Monday late afternoon I had a big surprise. My sweet nephew, Terry Tillman from Jacksonville, Fla., pulled in the driveway. We only get to see Terry two or three times a year so when he comes, it’s always great seeing him. He was on his way to Memphis for a week-long job for the company he works for in Florida.
Another surprise Friday morning was a visit from my sweet niece, Nan Tillman Roberson, of near Greenville. It was a happy time for me to see my niece and nephew, children of my brother, Louis Tillman. Louis is gone from his earthly home, but I know he was looking down and smiling. My daughter, Donna Garripoli, came up Friday and visited with Nan while she was here. Donna also delivered the chair she had made for Nan’s mother-in-law.
Congratulations to Ryan Donavan, son of Stephen and Emily Tillman Donovan of Belzoni. Ryan is the second place speller in the State of Mississippi. Ryan’s grandfather is Johnny Tillman of Tillatoba.
Martha Box went with her music man, Josh Harrison, to Square Market in Grenada Tuesday. They had a great time picking and grinning.
She has been teaching driving to Marnie Box, her granddaughter. Martha and Marnie had fun while she was showing her the back roads and how to get unlost. Saturday night she had good times with good friends and Sunday her toes were still tapping.
Martha attended worship service at Tillatoba Baptist Church Sunday.
“Yes, LOVE LIFTED ME. Still singing. Bro. Harris preached how God does care for us,” Martha shared.
Milton Harper had his defibrillator battery changed on the 18th, he is recuperating from that. He’s sore but doing okay. Sadie Harper is a little better, still have healing pain. She just has to take it slow. Her therapist is still coming twice a week.
My up-the-road neighbors, Tommy and Debbie McCool, said they had another weekend at home. They did get out and visit her dad, Ray Bell, and sister, Patsy Merrill, Saturday.
Darlene Moorman is all smiles over her new little great-granddaughter, Haizley-Mae Ann Beck, daughter of Richard and Zenda Beck. She weighed eight pounds and was 18 inches long. Big sister Kinsley adores her. Her granddaddy, Keith Beck, is all smiles too!
Christian love and sympathy to the Jesse Ray Kendall family of Cascilla. Mrs. Kendall passed away Friday, January 20. Mrs. Kendall was the aunt of my niece, Nan Roberson.
Love and sympathy to the Tom Hill Holly family of Grenada. Tom passed away Friday, January 20, at his residence. I met Tom through the truck stop when he worked at Crystal Amusement. Tom was a nice person and a man of few words. I always had the utmost respect for Tom. RIP Mr. Tom.
Happy belated birthday to Angela Robinson and Nathan Hartley who celebrated the 22nd; to twins Gwen Rotenberry Graham and Gay Rotenberry Brewer on the 29th; and also to Terri Dukes and her great nephew, Logan Rose. May you all have a great time celebrating your birthday!
Freda Weir was showing three beautiful yellow bushes in bloom in her yard. I also saw some daffodils in bloom in another yard. Is spring around the corner? Wouldn’t that be nice but only if it lingers on in to the summer months. I’m thinking we are going to have a long hot summer!
Thought for the day…..God can heal a broken heart, but he has to have all the pieces.
