Water Valley High is kicking off with some of the best activities of the year yet! The sports and clubs are taking off and increasing their productivity each day. It’s been an exciting week inside the walls of Water Valley High School; continue reading to discover all of the action!
The senior class not only had a busy week filling out college applications and planning their bright future, but also on many field trips to encouarge them to develop careers after high school. Seniors traveled to our local companies, Valley Tool, and Solero Technology, to gain personal insight into what these companies offer and hopefully spark potential interest in each senior.
The Blue Devils varsity football team dominated the J.Z. George Jaguars on the first home game of the season this past Friday. The action started Friday afternoon as the team traveled back in time to visit their old stomping grounds, Davidson Elementary School, where all the players greeted the young children with team chants, a great meet and greet with the elementary students.
The night was already off to a good start as all of the football and cheerleading seniors were thrilled to see their senior banner on the football field. This was just the beginning of a fantabulous Football Friday. Not only should we congratulate the football team but also new head coach, Clint Faust, as he received his first official varsity win as head coach!
In the post-grame celebration, assistant coach Richard Russo gifted Coach Faust with a signed game football. The assistant coaches have been anxiously waiting to award him a small token of appreciation for all the hard work he has put invested in this team.
Coach Faust gave a heartfelt speech to his team and made sure to emphasize, “If you have a dream, make it happen.,” implying that his players made his dream of being head coach come true! What a significant way to end the school week!
Community members, clear your schedules for this Friday night’s football game. Kick-off is at 7 p.m.. Come out and see the disco-decorated field for the 2023 Water Valley High School homecoming and maids as one of the senior maids will be crowned 2023 homecoming queen! This ceremony will occur on the Bobby Clark football field at 6:15 p.m.
The football team is not the only sport with a Blue Devil victory. The Lady Devils volleyball team hosted MS Palmer for their senior night this past Thursday and won like never before! The student section was packed with hyped students waiting to witness the Lady Devils take down the MS Palmer Dragons!
The volleyball team and fans supported all four seniors during a pre-game ceremony for senior team members. They were honored at center court with their families at their side. The four seniors were also honored by family and friends with lots of gifts, hugs, tears, and many laughs to show their love and support as they will soon be leaving the team. The seniors were treated to a display of volleyball accomplishments, game-day jerseys, and many pictures showing each sentimental moment throughout their entire volleyball career. ]
Though this was not the end of their season, it was an insightful moment to catch a glimpse of the bittersweet feeling each senior will one day have as they complete their last few high school volleyball games.
Student council members are starting to feel the heat with homecoming being right around the corner! They were ripping and running all weekend long, working overtime trying their best to decorate the halls with disco balls, fun backdrops for the student body to take pictures with and much more to show all of the school spirit! The council members dedicated their weekend working eight hours to ensure the high school was fully ready for the chaotic but fun activities of homecoming week.
Stay tuned as the Blue Devils enjoy homecoming week this week inside the Blue and White. Look forward to next week’s article, “Inside the Blue and White,” and you’ll be the first to hear!
