City-Wide Yard Sale Is Saturday
WATER VALLEY – It’s official, the City-Wide Yard Sale is an annual event with its return on Saturday, October 7, from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m.
The city-wide yard sale was launched last year with a grass-roots effort to organize an event large enough for locals to enjoy as well as attract out-of-towners. The idea was first shared on social media last year and quickly gained momentum as over three dozen locations signed up.
This year the number of locations has swelled to almost 40 and counting at presstime. Much of the coordination is done on Facebook at “Water Valley, MS, City Wide Yard Sale Day,” shared organizer Katelynn Dillard.
Dillard was a participant in the 2022 yard sale. She stepped up to help this year after hearing multiple people ask if a date had been set for another City-Wide Yard Sale. After gauging interest, she reached out to last year’s organizers, Waurene Roberson and Re nee Cain, to see if they were interested.
“They both said ‘no,’ so I asked if I could do it,” Dillard continued. “They were really nice and excited to have someone continue it.”
The role is a natural fit for Dillard, who operates Mulberry Lane Resale Shoppe in the Courthouse Commons on Blackmur Drive in Water Valley.
“Being a small business owner, anything we can do to get more people in our town to increase the foot traffic for the yard sale is good. It will also help small businesses because while you are here you are going to want some coffee, you might want to get something to eat, go grocery shopping or come to my resale shop,” Dillard added.
The list includes commercial locations in town – the B.T.C. Old Fashioned Grocery, GG’s Flowers and Gifts, Violet Valley Bookstore, BackTrack Antiques and Gifts, Mulberry Lane Resale Shoppe, Railroad Park and Melonvine Marketplace. The Melonvine Marketplace will have 38 booths set up for the big day. Church locations on the list include the Church of the Nativity’s Salt and Light Building (610 North Main), Martin Street Church of Christ and Gatewood Church of God in Coffeeville.

Dillard also provided space in her shop for yard sale participants who may live in the county and may not have an accessible location.
