Two Arrested In Truck Stop Burglary

The Yalobusha County Sheriff’s Department recovered tires, rims and other big truck parts valued at thousands of dollars. The items were stolen from the Tillatoba Truck Stop.

TILLATOBA – Two Yalobusha County men were charged with burglary and grand larceny after allegedly stealing tires, rims and other truck parts valued at thousands of dollars from the Tillatoba Truck Stop.
Sheriff Mark D. Fulco reported Joshua Young, who lives on CR 211 between Coffeeville and Oakland, and Nicholas Duell Hardy, who lives in Tillatoba, were charged a day after the burglary was reported on October 8. Fulco said the business owner contacted authorities when he noticed the items were missing from an 18-wheeler trailer used for storage at the business. Fulco praised the team work from deputies, explaining that within hours of the call the suspects had been identified and stolen property located.
Deputy Brent Anderson was among the first deputies on the scene   and immediately started checking with contacts in the area for leads.  Captain Thomas West, Major Jermaine and K9 deputy Taylor Byford also assisted in the investigation.
“Within an hour I had leads on this case,” Anderson told the Herald, explaining that he reached out to a lot of people who lived in the area for tips.
He learned that the rims had been sold to a tire shop in neighboring Grenada County.
When Anderson arrived at the business to recover the items, his next tip came from a customer who reported he knew someone who had purchased 20 big truck tires. This tip led to a second Grenada County business, where the stolen tires were recovered.
“Both business owners were very cooperative, they had been told different stories from our suspect who sold the stolen property,” Anderson added.
Other items including filters, wheel bearings and miscellaneous parts  were discovered at Young’s residence as the investigation continued. He also said that Young and Hardy were booked in the Yalobusha County Detention Center on October 8.
Anderson added that the truck stop owner estimated the value of the stolen items was tens of thousands of dollars.
“We are in the process of getting all of the stolen items back to the business owner,” Anderson added. “He was very pleased, he never thought he would get it back.”
