SCOBEY – A fire last Wednesday night, May 22, claimed the life of a Scobey woman. Yalobusha County Coroner Ronnie Stark reported Pamela Dogan was pronounced dead at the scene from smoke inhalation.
Yalobusha County Sheriff Jerimaine Gooch reported the cause of the fire was likely weather-related.
“There was a storm that night and obvious signs of a lightning strike,” Gooch
Firefighters from Tillatoba and Oakland were dispatched to 4399 County Road 55 just before midnight. Gooch reported the Mississippi State Fire Marshal’s office investigated the origin of the fire.
