Ann Ruth Davis
WATER VALLEY – It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Ann Ruth Davis, a beloved mother, grandmother and cherished friend, who passed away peacefully on Nov. 7, 2025, at the age of 88.
Born on Nov. 30, 1936, in Jackson, Tenn., Ann lived a life filled with love, laughter and a resilient spirit that inspired everyone she met.
For more than 50 years, Ann dedicated herself to her work as a waitress, faithfully serving others in the food service industry. Her kindness and care for her customers reflected her loving nature, and she always placed the needs of her family above her own.
Ann is survived by her daughter, Diane Goodrum (Jeffrey); son, Johnny Tidwell; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy for her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Ruby Fullerton; siblings, Glen Fullerton, Jerry Fullerton and Deborah Hubbard; and four children, Margaret Tidwell, Robert Dale Tidwell, Ricky Tidwell and Betty Jean Tidwell.
A vibrant soul, Ann found happiness in the simple things of life. She enjoyed flower gardening, nurturing blooms that mirrored her own beautiful spirit, and spent hours crafting, expressing her creativity through countless projects.
Friends and family celebrated Ann’s life on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Seven Oaks Funeral Home. Visitation began at 11 a.m., followed by the funeral service at noon.
Andre Hickey
WATER VALLEY – Andre Hickey, 53, of Water Valley, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
Born October 27, 1972, to the late Willie Hickey and Rosie Ann Gates-Hickey of Water Valley, Andre attended school in the Water Valley School District.
In his younger years, he loved traveling with his father on the road while driving 18-wheelers and enjoyed fishing in his spare time. Andre especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a warm, kind-spirited person who always greeted others with a smile that will be dearly missed.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 1 p.m. at House of Prayer COGIC, 801 Mills Street, Water Valley. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Walker Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.
Andre is survived by four children, Qanisha (Jordan) Harmon, Quatisha Hickey, Quaterrious Hickey, and Qy’dashya Hickey; grandchildren Callie Rowsey, Jayden and Peyton Harmon, Ry’saiah Austin, and Zinomii Gray; siblings Larry (Melba) Stokes and Lisa (Jerry) Telford; stepchildren Alexus, Corey, Mercedes, and Edward Jr. Sims; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Hickey and Rosie Ann Gates-Hickey.
Amy Dalton Lee
GRENADA – Amy Dalton Lee, 60, of Grenada, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, November 1, 2025.
Amy was born in August 1965 in Memphis to Frances and William Dalton. She was deeply loved as a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. A faithful servant of her Lord, Amy was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Grenada. When her health declined, she continued to watch services from home.
She always had a smile on her face when she spoke of her family, especially her grandsons, and proudly embraced the nickname “Gram-Gram” given to her by her oldest grandson.
A graveside visitation will be held Thursday, November 13, at Shiloh Cemetery at 11 a.m. Pallbearers will include Eric McCarty, Eddie Miller, Brandon Anthony, and Preston Wade. Seven Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Amy is survived by her daughter, Erica (Eddie) Miller of Hughesville, Md.; three sisters, Nancy (Michael) Hazim of Las Vegas, Nev., Pat (Preston) Wade of Oxford, and Janice Daugherty of Oxford; two nieces, Stephanie (Tony) Hazim and Melinda (Eric) McCarty; three nephews, Tony Hammer, Shawn (Debra) Anthony, and Brandon (Jennifer) Anthony; and two grandsons, Nathan Miller and Lucas Miller, both of Hughesville, Md.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frances and William Dalton; her husband, Tony Lee; her brother-in-law, Jimmy Daugherty; and two nephews, Luke Hammers and Jeremy Hammers.
Sarah Beth Moore Martin
COFFEEVILLE – Sarah Beth “Sadie” Moore Martin, 87, of Coffeeville, passed away Monday, November 3, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
She was born October 6, 1938, in Big Creek to Troy Green Moore and Mattie Trusty Moore. Sadie was a devoted homemaker whose greatest joy was making her house a true home. A faithful wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother, she also “mothered” many children through the years who were not hers by blood but surely were by heart.
A wonderful cook, Sadie took great pride in preparing delicious meals for her family and friends, creating not just food but memories around the table. She loved the outdoors and found happiness in caring for her animals and the world around her.
Sadie was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Coffeeville, where her faith and gentle spirit were evident to all who knew her.
Funeral services were held at Friday, November 7, 2025 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada with Rev. Truman Scarborough officiating. Interment followed in at Mt. Gilead Cemetery near Coffeeville. Family and friends gathered one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers were Glenn Burney, Gaylon Gray, Channing Martin, Kenneth Moore, Michael Moore, Tony Moore and Ray Schmitz, III will honor Sadie by serving as pallbearers. Brad Jeffreys, Roger Kendall, Steve Latza, Jason Moore and Willie Sossaman will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Survivors include two sons, Paul Allen (Tanya) Martin of Oxford and Billy Scott (Jennifer) Martin of Coffeeville; three grandchildren, Channing Martin, Ashley Martin and Amelia Martin (Jacob) Palmer; five great-grandchildren, Hadley Martin, Sarah Martin, James Henry Palmer, Chandler Martin and Margaret Ruth Palmer; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 70 years, JT “Jake” Martin; a son, Charles Henry “Bubba” Martin; a sister, Faye Kendall and brothers, Bobby, Walter and Harry Moore.
Neva Sharron Surrette
WATER VALLEY – Neva Sharron Surrette, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on November 9, 2025, at Yalobusha County Hospital in Water Valley.
Born in Tillatoba, Sharron began her working career at Big Yank, where she honed her skills as a seamstress, bringing warmth and care to everyone through her craftsmanship.
In 1967, Sharron married Jerry Surrette at Camp Ground Church. Together, they created a welcoming haven for their community by owning and operating Wood and Miller Clothing Store in Water Valley, where Sharron’s strong will and sense of right and wrong shone through in every interaction.
Sharron was known for her nurturing spirit. She cherished time spent sitting with the elderly and enjoyed creating various crafts. Those who knew her were familiar with her love of tending to her chickens and dogs, but the true centerpiece of her life was her family.
Visitation was held Monday, November 17, at Seven Oaks Funeral Home at 11 a.m. A funeral service followed at noon, with interment in Sylva Rena Cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, Breck (Tosha) Surrette of Water Valley and Brad Surrette of Coffeeville; four grandchildren, Gage Heath Moss, Taryn Elizabeth Surrette, Hanna Nicole (Levi) Simpson, and Scarlet Rochelle Surrette; two great-grandchildren; and two siblings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Opal Arbuckle; one daughter, Shannon Jahnaee’ Cain; and eight siblings.
