COFFEEVILLE – The death of a husband and wife on Hwy. 330 West outside of Coffeeville has been ruled a murder/suicide. Yalobusha County Sheriff Jerimaine Gooch reported that his department responded to the couple’s residence last Thursday, Nov. 4, around 5 p.m.
Chandra Dawn Perkins, 54, and Carey Wade Tackett, 54, were discovered deceased in a bedroom by a family member. During the subsequent investigation deputies determined that Tackett shot and killed his wife before taking his own live.
“This is a very tragic event, my heart goes out to the family members,” Gooch reported.
The homicide is the third in Yalobusha County this year. Latonia Shaw was fatally stabbed in Water Valley following a domestic dispute. Jason Baker of Coffeeville was immediately arrested and charged with first degree murder. On June 13 a former state legislator, Ashley Henley, was gunned down while outside cutting grass in the Boat Landing Community. That case remains under investigation.
