A tragic happening at Tillatoba Lake Sunday was the drowning of a Grenada man who fell out of the boat. Condolences to the Shaw family of Grenada.
This cool weather has me pulling out my long johns again and adding another quilt on the bed. Since David is on a blood thinner, he has the gas heaters going and a small electric heater on in our bedroom.
As part of Louise Crenshaw Arnold’s birthday week celebration Thursday her two sisters, Donnie Toole and Margaret Wilbourn, along with Lillian Standridge and Gilda Merriman and Louise enjoyed a trip to Greenwood for a meal at the Crystal Grill. After eating, they rode around town reminiscing about where they shopped and went when they were little. The Crenshaw girls always stayed at their great Auntie Willie Freeman’s home. Louise, with those four to entertain you, I know you had a great time in Greenwood!
Baby boy is here! Baylor Lane Scott, son of Alexander Hamilton and Silas Scott, weighed eight pounds, four ounces and was 20.5 inches long. Baylor was born at 6:22 p.m., Wednesday, April 26. His great-grandmother, Sheryn Goode is one proud lady.
Faye Hartley was one tired grandmother after a busy day Sunday. After church and cooking dinner she went to Tupelo and watched her grandson, Rowland Hartley, play ball. Rowland plays for the Grenada Rockets and they won the championship Sunday night in Tupelo. They didn’t lose a game this weekend. Congratulations, Grenada Rockets!
Congratulations to my nephew, Kyle Scott, for winning two awards at the Hebron Christian School Athletic Banquet Friday night. Kyle got JV Football Most Valuable Offense and JV Basketball Defensive Most Valuable Player. He is the son of James and Maci McLendon Scott of West Point.
Congratulations to Julia Kerr, who has retired after 38-plus years. Julia said she could not have asked for a greater group of labor and delivery and nursery nurses. Julia, I know you will miss your working friends but think of the fun you can have traveling and visiting family and doing what you want when you want! I’m proud of you sweet girl!
David and I felt pretty good Saturday morning so we decided to ride to Gluckstadt and visit son, Logan, and Brandy Deck and help Mills celebrate his 6th birthday. They fed us crawfish, sausage, shrimp and chicken with corn, potatoes and carrots. It was so good.
Our visitors Saturday morning were grandson, Waylon, and Holly Dukes and precious great-granddaughter, Haven Rose. I had a coloring book for Haven but couldn’t find it, so we used paper for her to color on. Her work is a wall hanging treasure and that’s where it is going!
Please pray for Otey Dahl. He has been taken to hospital in Jackson. Don’t know what is wrong yet but it’s something to do with his defibrillator.
Our friend, Martha Box, is still up and at ’em working on me, she says. Teaching me to slow down and have a good day!
Her grandson, Josh, drove her to Pine Grove Baptist Church Sunday. She reported Bro. Scarborough gave a great encouraging message to Josh and other high school grads, and everyone attending. She said it was great music. Jake, her other grandson, sang “I Can Only Imagine” and what a voice! WOW Then they fed us so well, added Martha. Josh rode her on the back roads as they talked – one of her favorite things to do .
Martha’s brother, Jesse Wortham is down with a fever. Now his grandboy, Wyatt has fever too. These cold days followed by the warm ones can stir up a virus.
Ellen Parker came from Greenwood Tuesday and stayed until Friday with her sister, Diane Dukes. She was going to stay a while longer, but Diane ended up with this allergy stuff going on. I talked to her Monday morning and she was still feeling bad. I hope you feel better soon, Diane.
Saturday night, Waylon and Holly Dukes and Sam and Anna Pullen played Monopoly while the girls, Joanna and Haven, played their games. The little ones were played out when they parted ways!
