Happy Father’s Day! I pray all of you have a wonderful and blessed day!
Thank you Father for the rain we are getting. I can now have fried squash!
Phillip Williams from Texas is visiting his mother, Jessie Williams. I know he will get in some good fishing while he is here. I saved you some old newspapers, Phillip, to lay the fish on while cleaning so you won’t mess your mother’s counter tops up.
Benton Donahue, our step-grandson of Madison, was named to the University of Mississippi’s Spring 2023 Chancellor’s Honor Roll lists. Benton, son of Brandy and Logan Deck, is majoring in Music and was named to the Chancellor’s Honor Roll which is reserved for students who earn a semester GPA of 3.75-4.00. Congratulations, Benton!
They took Homer Melton by ambulance to Oxford after he had fluid building up on his heart. As of Sunday, they had removed three gallons of fluid. Asking for prayers for him.
Doris Hoop went to Jackson for her right hip replacement Monday, June 5. Everything went great and they sent her home the next day. It’s great how they do surgery one day and send you home the next day. Take care of yourself, Doris!
I talked to Peggy Bailey by phone and she sounded a lot stronger. We laughed and talked like old times. I’m glad you are feeling a little better, Peggy. I’m hoping Eugene will take us coon hunting one more time but we have got to start feeling better than we are now!
Tommy and Debbie McCool went with the three granddaughters, Allie Dukes, Caitlyn and Hannah Beavers, to the carnival Saturday night at Thunder on Water. They got there around 6:30 and stayed until after 10. Deborah said it was so cold and windy but they still had fun. They saw all of Tommy’s nieces there and they were wearing their dad out.
They also rode lots of rides several times and then got funnel cakes and headed home. Debbie said they were tired, but sure had fun watching them all.
Martha Box had a special encounter with a stranger who needed a friend, this week.
“Young lady as I told you then Jesus loves you and so do I,” Martha told her. “Life goes on and we learn as we go forward.”
Martha said that hug and talk touched her as much as it did the girl.
Tuesday, Martha had a great supper and music along with visits with friends at Carmella’s.
Addie, Martha’s great granddaughter was at Martha’s babysitting a cute, little two-month old boy and you know she worked. Martha loved every moment of holding, feeding and loving God’s creation. Addie did a fine job of diaper changes.
Martha danced to the great music by the Sharecroppers with friends Saturday night. She said she is so thankful she can still walk and dance a few moments.
Sunday she attended a wonderful and well presented Pastor Appreciation Day for Bro Tommy Darby and his lovely helper, Mrs. Darby.
Then Phil, Ginger, Jake and Josh came to visit Martha. Jake brought GiGi (Martha) banana pudding that he made and it was grrrrreat!.
Your writer’s visitor Sunday was daughter, Donna Garripoli. She was on her way back to Grenada from Batesville after watching grandson, Bradley Holliday play in the All Star games. They won some and lost some. I offered her a fried bologna sandwich but she declined. I thought everybody loved bologna. I even offered to add some thin sliced onion on it. Maybe if I had offered her a round steak sandwich, she would have accepted.
The Patriots Grenada All Stars 10 U boys played in Batesville this past weekend in the Dizzy Dean Bash. The Patriots played well but fell short during the semi-final game against Senatobia. My great grandson plays outfield for the Patriots, Bradley Holliday (#12)!
Happy birthday to twins, Donna McMillian Ginn and David McMillian on the 16th; Hannah Meacham celebrates the 17th; Billy Stevens Sr., Vivian Simmons and Mindy Robinson share a birthday the 18th; and Bro Jimmy Martin celebrates the 21st. I pray you all have a great day celebrating your special day!
