Phil and Ginger Harrison really enjoyed hearing their son, Josh, playing and singing an old Ralph Stanley hymn, Gloryland, in church Sunday. He did a great job. Their other son, Jake, didn’t get to come home this weekend. They missed him and I know he missed the wonderful Sunday lunch they had at Diane Hills and the dessert at Momas for her birthday! Ice cream and cake for supper on Sunday, it doesn’t get much better than that.
No it doesn’t, Ginger.
Sadie Harper says please pray for her granddaughter, Patty Jo Roberts, and her family. Lightning struck their house and they lost everything except their lives. Thank God one of the kids smelled smoke and woke everyone up. Patty is the daughter of Sheila O’Bryant. That was the night they had all that bad weather around Memphis.
Darlene Moorman said she and her son, Keith Beck, are doing great. Keith had a procedure Monday a week ago and it has done wonders for him so far. He is still under doctor’s orders not to pick up anything and he hasn’t, Darlene reported.
Darlene said the only bad thing around here is her little black freezer that she keeps in her kitchen. It went out on her recently but there was another one in Keith’s house and Tristen picked that thing up like it wasn’t nothing. He put the bad one on her trailer that goes for sale at that can place, so she gave it to him since he did all of the work.
My great grandson, Bradley Holliday, was all excited about his friend, Carson Mabry going to Orange Beach, Ala. with him. Of course his parents, Brad and Frankie Holliday went along as chaperones. Bradley and Carson enjoyed their very first concert seeing Sam Hunt and Brett Young. They enjoyed the beach, food, and many other activities but were two tired young boys when they got back to Grenada!
Shelia Jackson said she was glad to be home from visiting her sister, Liz Thurman, and other family members, Steve, Benji and Grace Thurman in Knoxville Tenn. Shelia’s sister is 91 and has dementia. It’s just the two of us left out of eight, says Shelia.
Martha Box has been busy trying to stop the hundreds of squirrels from eating every tomato! She finally had that long awaited TOMATO sandwich. Mmm good!
Martha and her sister, Joyce Stevens, made a trip to Palestine, Texas on Thursday. They enjoyed a visit with their brother, Ronnie. Of course she and Joyce cooked them some good ole fried cabbage and fried potatoes to go with the beans Ronnie cooked. And the cornbread topped it like frosting on the cake!
Martha got home Saturday eve to her yard fresh cut by Ken Dunning, who said, “Happy Birthday!” Candy was working on arranging her porch. Rissa had her car at the car wash and
Lillie and Addi mopped, cleaned and made brownies, all because they said Martha was having a birthday. Lol
“Now let me go pretty up because they are landing to sing ‘Happy Birthday to me,’” who is still 59 and holding!” she added.
I didn’t know you could go back in age Martha, I’ll have to try that!
Martha heard a great spirit-filled message from Bro. Ricky Harris Sunday morning. Wow, only through Jesus will we live forever! By accepting the forgiveness of our sins, we will live forever more in joy. Said she wish she could describe the spirit .felt in that church Sunday! There is Joy in the Truth!
She had a good visit with daughter Donna, and granddaughter, Miranda, Sunday. They came bearing tomatoes, coconut pie and a peanut butter pie. She loves that kind of company!
Please pray for lil Haven Rose Dukes, our great granddaughter. She is having some problems with her stomach. She is on a bland diet and I pray that works for her.
Waylon and Holly Dukes are having a front porch built on to their home and it looks pretty. I know they are going to enjoy sitting out there, especially when the weather cools off some.
Peggy and Eugene Bailey are doing pretty good. I talked to her on the phone and she sounded good. She did say that Eugene wasn’t feeling as well as he would like but sometimes at our age, that’s par for the course.
Angela Dukes is recovering at home. She went to her heart doctor Monday for a MRI.
Allison, Angelas and Pat Dukes daughter, is now a CNA at the Charleston hospital. Congratulations sweet girl!
Deborah and Tommy McCool are going to see their son, Christopher, Sunday. They are going to take him and his family out to eat for his 43rd birthday.
Happy birthday to Dillon Holland on the 23rd; my first cousin, Phillip Tillman and Malenda Harris Meacham on the 27th; to Kenny Parker on the 28th; and to my sweet husband, David Deck, and Chris McCool on the 29th. I pray you all have a great day celebrating your birthday.
Thought for the day: The company you keep will determine the trouble you meet.
