Please pray for all school students, especially the little children who are experiencing their first year of big school. Pray for teachers, administrators and all faculty who work in the school system. Be kind to each other. If you are riding a bus, respect your bus driver. Your life as well as others is in their hands. Make it easier for them. I pray you all have a great year!
It was a busy weekend starting Friday night with a lot of family enjoying dinner in Grenada. My first cousin, Phillip Tillman, was visiting before his book signing Saturday at Tillatoba Baptist Church. His nieces, Connie Tillman Cockerel and Lee Ann Tillman Howe, surprised him with a birthday cake after dinner.
I met a lot of new people and visited with old friends at the book signing. I sat with a new friend, Susan Williams who writes Chronicles of Yesteryear for the “Grenada Star.” I also sat with my friend, Carrie Kerr Rice of Charleston. Martha Box and my sweet sister, Angelena Hudson, joined us as well as David Quirk who drove from Erie, Penn. to be here.
It was also good to see Mona Beardain of Batesville, Patsy Brooks of Water Valley, Joy Mullen of Oakland, Beverly and Walter McBride of Georgia, Clyde Massey Callahan and her beautiful baby girl and many more.
Sunday, we drove to Grenada for David’s birthday lunch. Daughter, Donna Garripoli, and granddaughter, Miranda Procella, cooked up a feast! It was so delicious and thanks again! I feel like I gained 10 pounds and I had a doctors appointment the day after all of this feasting. We had delicious cake and ice cream before we left coming home!

Happy 44th anniversary to Barry and Geneva Kelley, who celebrated July 26. Geneva left Sunday going to Oklahoma for her yearly sisters trip. These girls always have so much fun!
Ginger Harrison said it’s been a very nice weekend. The band her son, Josh, is in played at a restaurant in Oxford Saturday. It was a fun evening and they enjoyed it. All the young men did a great job. This week will be the last week their son, Jake, will work at the internship at Supertalk Mississippi in Jackson. He has learned a lot and really had a great time. He recorded a few commercials last week. Ginger said she enjoyed a nice visit from momma( Martha Box) Sunday evening.
Deborah McCool reported a busy day. They got up early and went to Batesville and ate breakfast at Hardee’s. Then they drove to Senatobia and attended church with son, Christopher, and family. Next was a stop in Southhaven for a meal at Central Barbecue on Getwell Road. Tommy and Deborah did some shopping in Horn Lake. Coming home, they stopped by daughter Kimberly’s to visit.
Darlene Moorman and son, Keith Beck, went to the Charleston Clinic Monday. Keith was sick with a cold after getting wet at work from washing the floor with water before painting. Darlene had a six month check up. Darlene, I hope all goes well for you and Keith.
Darlene’s great grandson, Elisa Beck, was with her this weekend and they had a ball. She surprised him with his favorite toy. Boy was he happy over toy truck and trailer, pulling a car on it. Pray for Keith tho because he has a bad cough.
Sunday afternoon David and I rode up and visited with great granddaughter, Haven Rose, and Holly and Waylon Dukes. Haven Rose and I drew pictures and looked at pictures on my phone. She showed us how fast she can run. Of course I videotaped most of it. Holly sent us home with a delicious marinade cucumber salad she made!
Martha Box said she was tired all week and just rested up at home. She had a great visit at the church with everyone at the Tillman book signing. She has already started reading her book! I am too, Martha.
“It was so good to see everyone at the book signing. And I am still just the one who landed here October 10, 1973,” Martha said.
