Labor Day is this coming Monday, September 3. I wish you all a safe and happy Labor Day Weekend.
Congratulations to Mindy Robinson, who is a gift certificate winner from Criss Office Supply during their July-August teacher sale! I am so proud of Mindy and her husband, David, who both work at the Grenada School. They are a young couple who saw their dream and went for it.
Please pray for Joseph Cammeron. Grenada transferred him to Oxford for appendicitis surgery and he is home now doing well.
Tommy McCool is also doing well after his surgery in the Grenada hospital, and he’s home recovering. I know he’s missing the nurses coming in during the night and waking him up. There’s nothing like being at home in your own bed after a stay in the hospital.
Darlene Moorman talked to her great grandson, Elisa, on the phone Sunday night. He just started pre-school and is not liking it. They sent a picture of him all dressed up ready for school, crying, because he didn’t want to go. I’m sure he will laugh about the picture when he gets grown.
Saturday, David and I attended great granddaughter, Haven Rose Dukes’ third birthday party. She received a play convertible that had a radio in it and when we got there, she was sitting in her little convertible with the music turned up. I handed her birthday card to her and she just laid it on the dash of her car.
I told David she was acting like a 13 year-old instead of a three year-old. In the blink of an eye, she will be 13. It even has headlights and makes a motor sound.
Others attending we saw were Bubba and JR Dukes; her uncle J Dukes; Uncle Ehron Havens and son, Coy.
Saturday afternoon my granddaughter, Francesca Holliday of Grenada came up and took me to the wedding of Kristie Hartley and Chase Swope at the Tillatoba Baptist Church. It was one of the sweetest weddings I have ever attended and the church was packed. After having my picture taken with Kristie, Francesca, Holly Dukes and I attended the reception at the Country Club in Charleston. I pray this sweet young couple will have many years of happiness.
It was good visiting with Bro. Mike Ramage, who preformed the ceremony and his brother, Steve, from Vardaman. It was also good visiting with Chad and Morgan Eskridge and their precious daughter, Audrey.
Martha Box said, “Where did this month go? Just like the other day it was July and day before that it was New Years! Life ain’t what it used to be at 29 and holding but, hey, 49 ain’t easy but, I’m still holding.”
She asked for prayers for Jesse and Jodi Wortham and for the Wortham cousins. Their sister, Cynthia, died this week. Also prayers for cousin Geri Gail and family, Martha added.
Martha said she and Sister Joyce Stevens are getting mighty fat eating fish at the Catfish Hut!
I tried to tell you that Martha!
Martha reported about wonderful services at Willow Springs Assembly of God. Bro. Tommy shared the word and encouraged us to hold strong to the word KEEP THE FAITH, and share the Word, Martha added.
Martha said you know how she loves the music.
“When my nephews Dave and Wayne and friendboy stood up singing, this Aunty stood up clapping, ‘those are my boys!’” she said.
Dave and Donna Box’s grown up girls give such inspirational spiritual words.
“Wow, just the other day Dave was in my lap, Martha said. “They grow up fast!”
This ole nurse has made a few visits this week that touches this nurses soul,” Martha continued, adding you will always be a nurse ever if you are retired. Always willing to help anyone in need.
Happy belated birthday to Mary Ellen Franklin, who celebrated August 28.
Starting our September birthdays are little Miss Elena Young and Tommy Parker Jack Bowman, and Annette Ford, who share a birthday on the second; Susan Howe celebrates the third; and Waylon Dukes and Hannah Beavers share a birthday on the fifth. May you all have a wonderful day celebrating your special day.
Thought for the day… If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a new door.
