It’s a Wagner Week and, well, I hope this treatment fixed Mrs. Wagner’s cough.
Oxford, Mississippi, May 6, 1892
Dear Mrs. Wagner,
I have been out in the country to see a patient today so read your letter only a short time ago and then had to wait until I had given two treatments before answering. It is now after 9 o’clock, but I am going to treat you just as soon as I write this.
Hold right on as you were doing and the claim will vanish into nothingness. You say you never had a worst cough – if it is so bad, it is all the more working for Mrs. Eddie says the “nothingness of error is in proportion to its wickedness.” You know C.S. reverses the evidence of the senses. It is to the spirit warring against the flesh. The bottom of page 22 helps me to see the nothingness of material sense. Personal sense is the Devil that we have to resist but when we know it is a “deceiver” as we see on page 547. We will not listen to its lies. We are resisting the Devil when we are denying the error and the affirming of the truth.
Do you always have your treatment in the morning? If you then take up all the claims that seem real and then after having denied all the error, affirm the Trust that God made man in His image and likeness, and then, therefore, man is the reflection of God’s Being and God’s Being is Freedom, Harmony, Boundless Bliss.
The Bible says “the whole of man is to know God.” So, this shows us God is all and man can reflect nothing that is not in God. God is all! God is all!
I’m going to write you something from one of Mrs. Adams letters about treatment that will help you so. Declare earnestly the Truth methodically just as you would wash your dishes, wash them well and wipe them dry, and then let them alone after putting them away. Don’t go and take them all down and look to see if they are clean. This means not to fret about results but after given the treatment let God do the work. Take my treatment the first thing in the morning and then lay to bring every thought into obedience of Christ – to declare that God is all over and over and over and always that he is all power – that to govern men is upon his shoulders than God is the only Creator and God is the only Creation!
All causation is God.
If this claim tries to talk again pay no more attention than you would if you had washed your breakfast dishes and then after dinner you found it necessary to wash again, you sooner nor sit down and mourn because they were dirty again if you did they would not be ready when you wanted them. Just wash them up again, put them away and let them be done! This illustration is a wonderful help to see it does not have anything to do with results.
