Christmas music sounded up and down Main Street signaling the beginning of the holiday shopping season as over two dozen merchants participated in the Chamber of Commerce Holiday Open House last Saturday.
Tonya Eubanks, president of the board of the Chamber, said, “This was a great beginning for the holidays. It gave everybody the opportunity to shop and look for gift ideas. The weather was perfect and everyone was really into the spirit of the season.”
All over town the halls were decked, the lights were sparkling, and the air was filled with laughter as our hometown businesses hosted a spectacular Holiday Open House, turning the event into a memorable celebration that left attendees in delight.
The holiday spirit was further amplified by the participation local organizations. The Lions served their famous pancake breakfast, the Junior Auxiliary added to the fun with the 2023 Valley Dash – Turkey Thunder Road, and the Rotary Club’s 8th Annual Chili Cookoff was a spicy crowd-pleaser.
Children of all ages had a special treat when visiting the The Magnolia Coffee Co. who played host to Santa and Mrs. Claus. The joy on the kids’ faces was priceless as they were encouraged to tell about their year and to share their wish list with the jolly gent and lady.

Thanksgiving met Christmas on Main Street during the Holiday Open House last Saturday as Thanksgiving turkey Whitney Crow, the winner of the women’s category in the 5K of the Junior Auxiliary of Water Valley’s 2023 Valley Dash Turkey Thunder Run and Chamber of Commerce elf Jessica Richardson shared holiday plans.
Of course, no holiday celebration is complete without delicious treats, and businesses all over town offered a diverse array of appetizers and treats and these culinary offerings were a great hit with shoppers.

The success of the Business Holiday Open House not only showcased the Chamber’s and our local business’s dedication to the community but also set a high standard for future events, leaving attendees eagerly anticipating the next celebration which will be the Water Valley Christmas Parade on Friday, December 1.
Also upcoming is the Chamber Power Hour at BankFirst on Tuesday, November 28 beginning at 5:30 p.m. This quarterly event offers the opportunity for new and existing business people and customers to socialize, get to know one another and have fun.
In a world filled with hustle and bustle, our small town proved that these events are more than just an opportunity to shop; it is also a source of joy, community, and lasting memories.
