The Garden Club of Water Valley met Monday night, November 20, at the home of Luanne Brooks. The attendees (front row, from left) Luanne Brooks, Julie Paul, Carla Peacock and Jeanette Whitehead; and (back row) Becky Phillips, Amanda Edwards, Misty Fiew, Jennifer Lucas and Donna Toole painted either a Christmas snowman or Santa during the event. Glenda Gordon of GG’s Flowers and Gifts provided the canvases and paints for the group to use.
I had the honor of hosting our November Garden Club meeting. We gathered at my cabin, which was a little crowded but we managed to all fit and have a great time.
The meeting was called to order by our president, Rebecca Phillips. We recited the Pledge of Allegiance and Amanda Edwards presented our devotion. We discussed our Christmas plans and we are excited for what we have planned for the gazebo. Be on the lookout for a Christmas delight when we light it up. After our business discussion, Jeanette Whitehead led us in prayer and we headed to the kitchen for a hodge-podge of soups.
After we all ate, we had a very special evening planned. Glenda Gordon joined us for a fun night of painting. Glenda is so much fun – so vivacious and entertaining. Thank you, Glenda, for bringing your special talents and allowing us to just revel in one another and showcase our talents with the paint brush. The laughter that ensued was a sure sign of an entertaining evening.
I would like to elaborate on the dynamics of our wonderful group that makes up The Garden Club of Water Valley. It’s such a fun, supportive and lively bunch. Being a part of an organization is so much more than it seems from the outside looking in. The friendships and close relationships that are formed are priceless. With Thanksgiving in the rear view mirror and Christmas just around the corner, I’d like to thank every member of our group for being YOU! YOU make up a portion of the group that can only be filled by YOU.
Until next time, count your blessings and settle in for a Winter that will soon bring forth another glorious Spring. Happy Holidays from our club.
