OAKLAND – A Town Christmas Concert will wrap up the events for Oakland’s Down Home Christmas Celebration on Saturday, Dec. 9. The Concert is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce following the Christmas Tree Lighting.
“We are so excited to have a young Oakland native, Chuckie Moore, return home from college to share his vocal expertise,” said Linda Ross Aldy who is coordinating the chamber activities. “He recently completed his first university recital. Gay Lynn Hayes, our Concert Chair and well-known local vocalist, will also be performing and leading the participants in Christmas Carols. Gay Lynn is continuing to add music to this event, so there could be some great additions in store,” Aldy added.
The Christmas Tree Lighting is set for 4:30 p.m. at the Town’s Christmas Tree on the grounds of the Oakland Public Library. The Concert is next door at 304 Holly Street.
The Christmas Parade starts at 3 p.m. with line-up at 2:30 p.m. at Town Hall. For information on the Parade and vendor space, contact Sharonda Jones at 662-589-0040.
