McGlawn Homes, Inc. is a construction company based in Oxford with an office in Water Valley. The company specializes in value-built residential homes. Josh McGlawn cites the nationwide need for affordable housing as the driving factor that led his company to construct value-built homes that can often be sold at a price point below market averages. He also believes that with a collective effort from government, tradesmen and community members, his company can help fill the gap for affordable housing.
McGlawn provided insight into the company’s decision to build houses in Water Valley.
“As experienced real estate professionals from Oxford, we try to stay abreast of the surrounding real estate needs,” he stated. “Our research led us to Water Valley. After making a few trips back and forth and meeting lots of very nice local folks along the way, Water Valley became like a second home. We decided this is a great place to start.”
McGlawn also explained how they settled on Calhoun Street for the first new home.
“It took several visits and conversations to kick up a few options for a starting place for development in Water Valley,” he said. “We stumbled upon Calhoun Street. We chatted with several locals and learned the storied history of this street. After telling them about our mission and plans to develop, many expressed their excitement and support.
“We join in the neighbors’ excitement about helping to restore Calhoun Street to its glory of yesteryear,” McGlawn added.
