Mark your calendars for the next event Tillatoba Baptist Church is hosting, a Valentine’s Day banquet for couples, families and singles. The banquet is scheduled Saturday, Feb. 10, at 5:30 pm. Spaghetti, salad, break and a dessert will be served.
Son Derek Deck from Cleveland came by Thursday night and visited. He brought us a case of water and a couple boxes of cakes. He was on his way to Oakland to hunt with a friend.
Martha Box said she had not left her house since last Sunday. She told me that she enjoyed the first day or two piddling in the house, cooking soup and calling folks to check on them. But after a couple of days she was like a Tiger in a small cage.
By Friday, when Bubba came through the woods, Martha nearly squeezed him to glory! Bubba’s grandson walked over Thursday to check on her and pick up some soup she cooked.
“By Saturday as the nephew and family had to walk by to get out to the road, I was so happy to have someone to talk to,” Martha said. “Phil and Josh came Saturday afternoon to deliver me mail and supplies. I grabbed my tall grand and put that long hug on him,” Martha added.
“Now if this is not exciting news hopefully I will be out by Tuesday stirring up some more! Remember, JESUS is the Reason we can laugh our way through it all,” Martha also said.
“Yes, He is Martha!.”
Darlene Moorman is scheduled to go to the doctor at the pain clinic in Charleston Monday afternoon. Her son, Keith, feels a lot better now, but I think a whole lot more people will feel better after this snow and ice is gone. But I have to say I did enjoy it while it lasted.
Alice Kellum is still in the hospital in Grenada. She will have to go to rehab for a few weeks after she gets out of the hospital.
Deborah McCool said she did not do anything last week. Her work place in Grenada was closed. I guess that was a good thing, because she has been sick all week. She finally went to the clinic and they told her what she already knew. She tested positive for type A flu, that would explain why she had been in bed all week. I think everyone has or is sick with one thing or the other.
Happy birthday to Lisa Griffis Parker and Lexi Ray Reagan on the 28th and to Gwen Graham on the 29th. I pray you all have a wonderful day of celebrating your birthday.
Love and sympathy is extended to the Robert Hugh Simmons family of Grenada. Robert passed away Sunday, January 21, at Providence Assisted Living in Grenada. Robert was a hard worker and a good friend when we were all young teenagers.
Love and sympathy is also extended to the Shirley Ann Wheeler McFerrin family. Mrs. McFerrin passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17, at Tallahatchie General Hospital.
I didn’t know Mrs. McFerrin but, I know her son, Clay McFerrin, and I will say she had to have been a wonderful person to have raised such a fine young man.
Frank and Freda Weir visited the Arc Encounter Museum in Williamstown Ky. They also visited the Amish Bakery and the Diamond Caverns in Scottsville, Ky., and the American Pickers in Nashville, Tenn.. I know that was a fun trip. I’m hoping David and I can go when we get all unstoved up.
I talked to Peggy Bailey by phone this morning and she sounded like she was feeling much better. She said some of the kids had been there over the weekend. Erik didn’t have school Monday so he was spending the day with her.
Thought for the day…. I am at a place in my life when errands are starting to count as going out.
