Goonies Trash Transporters is located in Taylor and serve as 40-mile radius. The business rents 15-yard dumpsters for a variety of needs.
TAYLOR – A new short-term dumpster rental business launched in Taylor last year after husband and wife, David Mahaffey and April Mahaffey, took a leap of faith. The couple opened Goonies Trash Transporters, LLC and rent 15-yard roll-off dumpsters to serve a variety of needs.
David explains their dumpster rental business is geared for homeowners, contractors, a handyman, landscaping services, storage clean-outs, tree removal and countless other jobs. Their plan to compete against the big companies is providing strong service and competitive pricing. They also have a dump trailer to haul gravel or dirt for small jobs.
“If you wake up one morning and tell your husband you need to clean the garage Saturday before you can go hunting this weekend, call us,” April explained.
“I can bring you a dumpster at 7 a.m. Saturday morning, you load it up and call me to come get it,” David added.
The new business will serve a 40-mile radius from Taylor, their home location, a footprint that spans all of Yalobusha County.

David and April Mahaffey are the parents of three children, Samuel, Evie and Morgan. They launched a new business last year.
“When you sell a house, you have stuff you want to throw away that you don’t want to take it with you. When you move into a house, you pack up a lot of stuff that you realize you don’t need. Every American who has ever moved throws away stuff before they move and after they move,” David added.
They launched the business after the birth of their third child brought big changes in their lives. Samuel was born two years ago with Down Syndrome that brought numerous medical complications. David and April spent three months at
LeBonheur Children’s Hospital with Samuel after he was born. He came home for a few months and then had a second heart surgery that led to another five month stay at LeBonheur.
“She hasn’t been able to go to work for two years, so we decided to do this,” David explained about the business launch. Admittedly it will take time to build up the new business.
“I tell people that we are in the diaper stage of this business. We are waiting to graduate to pull-ups,” David jokes.
“April is the nervous one of us, and I am the one who wants to get out and knock on doors.”
A 16-year veteran of the Oxford Police Department, David also plans to keep working as April manages the new business. You can contact Goonies Trash Transporters at (662) 801-9551.
