Blackmur Library will have will have a limited number of eclipse glasses at an eclipse party planned Monday.
WATER VALLEY – A historic solar eclipse will cast a shadow over parts of the United States on Monday, April 8, and Blackmur Library has scheduled an eclipse “watch party” on the library grounds. The path of totality stretches from Texas to Maine, but the entire country with the exception of Alaska will see some degree of eclipsing as the moon passes between the sun and earth.
Librarian Joe Gurner reported the library lawn is ideal for viewing the eclipse. The library will have a limited number of eclipse glasses and viewing cards available for those who attend. The eclipse will begin about 12:30 p.m. and peak about 1:50 p.m., ending about 3:10 p.m.
“While the eclipse will not reach totality here, it will still be about 90 to 95 percent and should make spectacular viewing, weather permitting,” Gurner said. “All are invited to come at any time during the event and join in the fun.”
The library also has eclipse activity packets available for kids. Parents can come by and pick up an activity packets for children until the time of the event, Gurner said.
