The Blue Devils are counting down the days as summer break is right around the corner! Students are having classroom parties to celebrate, and during teacher appreciation week, the teachers are being showered with kind gestures. Everyone is excited about the upcoming summer fun that is in store!
Teachers, teachers, teachers! Last week was a national celebration for teachers, and with that being said, Water Valley High School made sure to honor our lovely Blue Devil teachers each day of the week! Water Valley High’s staff, friends, and community members did a wonderful job recognizing all the sacrifices, patience, and love it takes to be a teacher!
The week started strong by welcoming each teacher to their room with a fun sign that catered just to them and their subject/position in the school. As the week went on, so did the contributions! Water Valley High had many local sponsors and even some teachers lending a helping hand to feed and gift the teachers throughout the week.
Judging from the seemingly unlimited gifts, food, and words of encouragement, it’s safe to say that the teachers “Inside the Blue and White” are loved and honored; keep up the marvelous work! Being a teacher is not an easy task, and with kids as hyper as the Blue Devils, there’s never a dull moment. We keep you on your toes, so on my behalf, a special thank you goes out to all the dedicated teachers who pour into our every moment!

With the end of the school year fast approaching, some of the seniors decided it was time for a senior prank and brought cuddly kids to school.
With summer right around the corner, so is graduation! And with the end of the year coming comes the end-of-the-year shenanigans! The graduating Class of 2024 has come to the realization that their last few days of high school are NOW! They’d better get to planning their last devious tricks before they walk that stage. Easing into their pranks, the seniors decided to march into school with the most unexpected, yet cute and cuddly kids on their side.
Numerous seniors walked down the halls with pacifiers, fun toys, diapers, and a few tears as it only took one school bell ringing before those babies were NOT happy, and neither was the staff.
After about three cries that didn’t resemble any yell of a high school student, the staff got curious and searched the classrooms for the monstrous roar. They entered the room expecting to give a firm talk, but to their surprise, they were greeted with “goo goos and ga ga.” After the staff laughed at their harmless joke. Unfortunately, the whining kids had to be sent home (I’m not talking about the babies). But before returning the babies to their rightful owners, the seniors decided to take them down to the local city park where they would all have the biggest playdate of their lives!
To end the week, Friday, the new and improved 2024-25 school year football team kicked off their first game! The Blue Devils have been practicing non-stop to prepare for their spring game, ironically battling the Booneville Blue Devils.
The band was there to play their blasting tunes, the color guard was there hyping the atmosphere, and many fans and community members were there to cheer the team on! It was so much fun as the town got to experience one more football game before heading into another school year. Though it did not have the outcome we hoped for, the Blue Devils coachability, sportsmanship, and teamwork was evident as they fought a good game on the Bobby Clark Field!
Last week was definitely one to remember, from the teacher recognition all the way down to the senior class and their diaper dynamic duos! I can say that within these last few days of High School my community, teachers, and friends are for sure making all of our seniors’ last moments of high school worthwhile! Community, be sure to check back in next week as it will be one of the very last articles of “Inside the Blue and White!”
