I hope all of you ladies and the ones who stepped up to be, male or female, had a wonderful and blessed Mother’s Day!
Kellie Sturdivant Young wrote, “Tea parties are not just an activity for little girls and their dolls.” Twenty three ladies and girls gathered at Tillatoba Baptist Church the Saturday before Mother’s Day to celebrate ALL of the special women in their lives, eat delicious food, and drink tea (out of heirloom China cups).
The Teacup Story, which is based on Jeremiah 18:6, was read as a reminder that even though they go through fire and hard times, God is molding them into the beautiful creations that He always intended them to be. A game of Bible Trivia was a fun reprieve before the party ended.
Tillatoba Baptist Church hosts many events throughout the year that are open to the community. The congregation believes that church isn’t just a sermon on Sunday mornings, although they certainly do have that as well as on Sunday nights, but it is a place where community is formed. If you need somewhere to belong, be encouraged, or join a village that will help you and support you, please consider attending one of their services. They will be happy to meet you and God will be glad you are there.
On May 26, Tillatoba Baptist Church will acknowledge all graduates during their morning service. If you have someone special you would like them to celebrate then please contact them on Facebook@tillatobabaptist.
On June 16th, a Father’s Day lunch will be provided immediately following the morning service. Everyone is welcome! Thank you, Kellie, for sharing this information!
I had a wonderful surprise visit from my sister and brother- in-love, Ann and Tommy Hudson, one day last week.
They brought me two plants for my birthday. David and Tim planted them and now I’m waiting on the rain. Ann and I enjoyed my swing while they were here.
On Sunday, Brad, Frankie and Bradley Holliday, Donna Garripoli, and Tim Sullivan ate lunch with us. David fixed lasagna, candied yams and salad and Donna made a strawberry cake. It was all so good!
Rowland Hartley’s team, Grenada Rockets, won the tournament in Winona Saturday. Rowland got the Most Valuable Player award. His grandmother, Faye Hartley said she was too excited.
Over the weekend my great grandson, Bradley Holliday, and his travel baseball team, The Grenada Sluggers, went to Winona for a Mother’s Day tournament. After 12 long hours of baseball, the Grenada Rockets and Grenada Sluggers were in the championship. The Grenada Rockets won the championship and dedicated their win to their teammate Nolan Mooney, who is currently in the hospital. Please keep Nolan and his family in your prayers.
Myra Jackson Dempsey is still enjoying Arizona. I hope she isn’t liking it too much!
Ginger and Phil Harrison had a great weekend. They celebrated Josh’s birthday with Diane on Friday at Martin’s, something different. On Saturday they celebrated Addison’s and Josh’s birthday and Mother’s Day with Mama. They had a full house but missed Melinda Box as she had to work. On Sunday they enjoyed a fabulous lunch by Diane Hill with mama and Linda Harrison. Ginger reported it was nice having both boys home.
Little Hallie Bren DeLoach celebrated her second birthday with a party Saturday! She had a great weekend celebrating with family and friends.
Martha Box had a great time last weekend in Texas. She and sister, Joyce Stevens, went to their brother’s place in Palestine and reported a wonderful reunion with his family.
“I sooo love them all and sooo feel the love they have for their Aunt Mott!” Martha said.
Joyce and Martha visit Larry Stephens at Karen’s house in Enid, Monday.
Martha reported a great Mother’s Day message at Pine Grove, adding Bro Scarborough so invites the Holy Spirit with his message! Next it was a Mother’s Day celebration at Diane Hill’s.
Daisy Isbell went to her daughter’s, Erika Anderson, for the weekend in Kosciusko. Daisy watched Kaleb, her grandson, play ball Friday. They rode down the Natchez Trace to the tail end of their festival. Then Sunday morning they went to Huntington St. Church of Christ where Daisy’s son-in-law, Will, preaches.
Lynn Marceleno spent Mother’s Day weekend in the Smoky Mountains with her daughter, Carley, and Josh Davila.
Happy birthday to Daisy Walton Isbell and Jared Sturdivant who celebrate the 16th; Faith Tillman and Joy Walton celebrate the 17th; Sherry Thornburg the 18th; Liz McKinney celebrates the 20th; and Junior Dukes, my first grandson, and Marilyn Barton share a birthday on the 22nd.
