You’ve likely seen their picture in the Herald or encountered them at ribbon-cutting ceremonies and business openings, wearing vibrant red vests and warm smiles. But who precisely are the Water Valley Ambassadors?
Established in 1993, the Ambassadors were created with a clear mission: to bolster the efforts of the Water Valley Area Chamber of Commerce in advancing initiatives aimed at enhancing our community’s well-being and prosperity. Acting as an integral arm of the Chamber’s public relations, these dedicated volunteers go above and beyond to extend heartfelt welcomes to newly established businesses.
Moreover, they play an active role in key events that mark milestones in our city’s growth, including grand openings, ribbon-cutting ceremonies, open houses, groundbreaking ceremonies, receptions, and other notable civic engagements. They share information about the city and the chamber, answering questions for newcomers, and generally serving as a friendly connection to the community. Through their unwavering commitment and enthusiastic participation in these vital occasions, the Ambassadors amplify the Chamber’s outreach efforts, fostering a sense of camaraderie and collective pride within the community.
The Ambassadors’ regular meetings at the Chamber of Commerce office, held on the first Tuesday of each month at 7 a.m., serve as dynamic forums for community enrichment. At these gatherings, a rotating lineup of guest speakers share invaluable insights into a wide array of services, forthcoming events, and local opportunities. These informative sessions not only empower the Ambassadors with knowledge but also equip them to serve as conduits of information, actively sharing these insights with the wider community. By sharing this wealth of information, the ambassadors play a pivotal role in fostering community engagement and participation, ultimately contributing to the overall vitality and growth of Water Valley.
Serving as officers are Glinda Daniels as President, Mary Sue Stevens as Vice-President, Barron Caulfield as Treasurer, and Becky Jones as Secretary.
“I believe the Ambassadors serve an important place in our community,” says Glinda Daniels. “By extending warm welcomes to new businesses and actively participating in pivotal city events, we not only strengthen bonds within our community but also lay the groundwork for sustained growth and prosperity. Together, we embody the spirit of unity and collaboration, driving positive change and ensuring a vibrant future for Water Valley.”
Individuals interested in joining the ranks of the ambassadors can reach out to Glinda, Mary Sue, or Zandra Walker at the Chamber of Commerce office for further information.
