Mt. Liberty News
I hope everyone had a wonderful Father’s Day weekend. We didn’t really do much ourselves. We’re pretty happy just staying home and relaxing.
Men have such an important role in the house. I think it’s important as a woman to stand back and not get in my husband’s way of fulfilling the role God designed him for. I’ve always been pretty independent and had to learn that it’s not weakness to depend on my husband. We live in a society now that doesn’t respect the order God created in a household. The roles have become unimportant. It’s no longer controversial for a woman to do a man’s job, or a man doing a woman’s job. That’s an entirely different subject though.
Bro. Grant Coffey delivered a great sermon Sunday at Mt. Liberty. He preached about what it means to be a father. We started in Deuteronomy 6:1-7. Moses is talking to the generation that witnessed all the miracles God performed freeing them from bondage. He’s telling them to tell their children of the things God did. It is a man’s job to make sure his family is living in the way of the Lord.
In Proverbs 22:6 it says to train your child in the ways of God. There’s more to being a dad than just going to work and ball games. It’s more than bed time stories and teaching a child how to ride a bike. Training a child is molding a child. It’s constant teaching. Tell them about Noah and Moses. Tell them and God and his mercy and grace. Tell them about Jesus and what he did on the cross for them to have salvation – tell them all the time. God said to train them in love. Don’t just raise your kids then hand them over to Satan. Train them to follow Christ.
We were happy Sunday that Pat and Opal Watts decided to join our church as members. They’ve been coming and have really become wonderful additions to our church family. We love them and are glad to have their family a part of our church.
I hope that the rest of the week is great for everyone. If you’re looking for a home church, we invite you to join us. The Spirit is really moving in our church and community. It is awe inspiring to see God move. We would love to have you. Services start at 11 a.m.
