It’s Almost Time For The Carnival

The Watermelon Carnival Train Tracks Pork Attack contest has categories for amateur cooks including best dessert or best side.
Are you known for your delectable desserts, signature barbecue sauce, or crowd-pleasing side dishes? Do you have a watermelon recipe that’s a summer sensation? The Watermelon Carnival and MBN Train Tracks Pork Attack is searching for talented cooks like you!
This year’s contest features four categories: Best Dessert at 9 a.m., Best Sauce at 1 p.m., Best Side Dish at 2 p.m., and Best Anything Watermelon at 3 p.m. No need to cook on-site; just prepare your dish at home and bring it to the Chamber of Commerce tent, located behind Renasant Bank, at least 15 minutes before your category’s judging time.
Winners will earn a trophy and cash prizes: $100 for first place, $50 for second, and $25 for third. To participate, contact Barbecue Contest Chairman Tonya Ward Eubanks by noon on Tuesday, July 30. You can reach her at 662-609-7370 or tonyaeubanks@att.net. There’s a $25 entry fee per dish, and you can enter multiple categories and dishes. All ages are welcome.
This is your opportunity to gain some serious bragging rights and share your culinary creations. Whether you’re a dessert dynamo, a sauce specialist, a side dish savant, or a watermelon wizard, your talents could shine. Roll up your sleeves, get cooking, and be part of this exciting culinary competition during the carnival weekend.
Touch A Truck Returns To Carnival
Touch A Truck returns to this year’s Watermelon Carnival on Saturday, August 3, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Families can enjoy a hands-on experience where kids can explore, climb, and touch a variety of trucks, emergency vehicles, heavy machinery, and more.
The event also provides an opportunity to meet first responders who protect and serve our county and others who serve the community in different ways. Don’t miss out on the fun!

Road Closures Announced For Carnival Fireworks Show
The Water Valley Area Chamber of Commerce is excited about the upcoming Watermelon Carnival Fireworks Show and wants to make sure everyone has the best and safest viewing experience possible. To help with this, a temporary road closure will be in place the day of the fireworks show.
Starting at noon on Friday, August 2, Railroad Street, from Water Valley Head Start to North Court Street, will be closed for all parking. This closure is necessary due to the relocation of the fireworks launch area to ensure the safety of all attendees.
To accommodate school schedules, the remaining roads will be closed until 5:30 p.m., providing plenty of time for students to be picked up without any issues. After 5:30 pm, the area will be closed for the night to prepare for the fireworks show. During this time, there will be no entrance at Renasant Bank or the Game Ready building. Chamber officials ask that everyone plan accordingly and seek alternative routes and parking areas.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and cooperation. The Chamber is committed to ensuring a spectacular and safe event for everyone. By working together, we can make this year’s Watermelon Carnival Fireworks Show an unforgettable experience!
