A community backpack blessing is scheduled Sunday, July 28, at 11 a.m. at Tillatoba Baptist Church. Students are invited to bring their backpacks to the Sunday morning service and let the church members pray over you. This event is open to anyone in the community who would like to participate. You do not have to be a member of the church to attend.
Christian love and sympathy is extended to the Wanda Gail Jackson family of Oakland. Gail passed away Friday, July 12, at her home in Oakland. Gail and her late husband, Bo, had opened their hearts and home to dozens throughout the years, creating memories, impressions, and a legacy that will far outlive them both.
Diane Dukes motored to Greenville last week and checked on her sister, Ellen Parker. She went to Hot Tamale Heaven while in Greenville and got seven dozen hot tamales. She said when she fixed supper all they wanted was Mac and cheese and hot tamales. Goodness that sounds good!
I talked to Freda Weir Monday morning by phone and she said Frank was scheduled for knee surgery Wednesday in Oxford. Please add Frank to your prayer list.
Sheila Jackson was having trouble with her blood pressure being so high Sunday night and ended up in the emergency room. They treated her and sent her home.
Also pray for Josh Hardy who was burned and had surgery at Baptist Burn Center. Josh is home now and not looking forward to a long recovery!
Visiting us this week was Elizabeth McKinney from Gore Springs accompanied by the sweetest young boy, Colton McKinney. He was going home with Liz to play with her dogs. Colton told me he loves all animals.
Mississippi Diamond Dawgs will take the field to start their final tournament this summer and last tournament ever as Diamond Dawgs! These next five days will be some tough competition from all over the country! Good luck girls and go show them what the DAWGS are about! We are proud of all the girls but one in particular is our own Tillatoba girl, Charlie Bowman!
Martha Box said, “All I can say is, I’m still here. Still trying to be everywhere instantly.”
She skipped church again Sunday due to tiredness. She also fought off a virus this week. Martha is still able to exercise, building muscle, but reported she found a couple of curves that had been hiding for awhile. She also encourages everyone to pray for our country.
“Friend, let’s encourage all that we know to pray for our United States of America. For the guidance, leadership and support of our leaders . Let us pray for the salvation of all!” she said.
I’m all for that, Martha.
Sheryn Goode went to her doctor in Oxford Tuesday and all went well.
Our visitors Sunday were my granddaughter, Frankie Holliday, son, Bradley, and our daughter, Donna Garripoli. Donna brought barbecue and homemade lemon cookies. David cooked pork chops, candied yams and green beans. I was ailing and didn’t get to eat with them but later in the afternoon I ate a barbecue.
Deborah McCool, my up-the-road-neighbor says nothing going on this past weekend with her. Her husband, Tommy had to work. Deborah said she did things around the house and at her late dad’s house.
Happy birthday to Patrick Darby on the 17th; to Dale Dukes and Stina Taylor, who share a birthday on the 18th; to Holly Paige Dukes and Tommy McCool, who share a birthday on the 19th; to Patricia Lindley, who celebrates the 21st; and to Bro. Mike Ramage, who celebrates the 23rd. May you all have a blessed day celebrating your birthday?
Thought for the day…..The laughter of a child is the light of the home! That is so true! Don’t you love watching the videos on Facebook of babies laughing?
