The Water Valley Town and Country Garden Club invites everyone to join us for a delightful Tea Reception honoring Watermelon Queen Haylee Elizabeth Jones on Sunday, July 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. at The Simmons House Historic Venue & Inn on McLarty Street.
Haylee, the daughter of Michael and Lisa Jones and the granddaughter of Jimmie and Brenda Bowling, will be embarking on an exciting journey this fall as she attends Northwest Community College to study cosmetology in Oxford.
The Watermelon Queen Tea is a cherished tradition that dates back to 1931 when Eleanor Houston, the very first Watermelon Queen, was honored at a tea hosted by Mrs. Kermit Cofer. This year, the
event is proudly hosted by the Garden Club in collaboration with The Simmons House.
The garden club invites everyone to attend this special event. Refreshments will be served in the beautifully restored Greek Revival home, making it the perfect setting to celebrate this continuing Carnival tradition. The Tea Reception is free and open to the public, and we look forward to welcoming you to this charming celebration.
