Flora Mills, the oldest member of Mt. Liberty Church, had the honor of ringing the restored church bell.
I hope everyone has had a great week. It’s been busy for me. We stayed with Dr. Denman a lot this week so I’ve been back and forth a lot. I’m trying to get a lot done though because I got a job starting in August. God has really shown up for my family the past few months. I’m excited about my next adventure. I’ll still be coming to see Doc as much as I can though.
We had a great day at church Sunday. Bro. Pat Watts restored the old church bell. This bell was made in the 1880s and was used to announce that church was starting and for weddings, funerals and other gatherings.
On Sunday, Mrs. Flora Mills got the honor of ringing the bell for the first time. She is the oldest member of our church and remembers when the bell was in use. It was very emotional. It is a piece of Mt Liberty’s history.
Bro. Grant Coffey brought a wonderful message from Genesis 6:5-7. We all have one thing in common, and that is sin. Sin separates us from God. This was our punishment for Adam and Eve disobeying God. In the text we see God is fed up with mankind. So much so, he decided to destroy the Earth. He looked upon the Earth and saw nothing but corruption. He regretted making man (v. 7). God was going to destroy mankind with the Earth (Gen. 6:13). Noah found grace with God. Noah had faith and listened to God. He built the ark. And God remembered Noah (Gen. 8:1). Our circumstance is sin, and our consequence is an eternity in Hell. Ephesians 2:4-6 says even when we were dead in sin, he hath quickened us together with Christ. God changed our circumstances. He showed His love for us that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Jesus redeemed us back to God. He paid for our sins with his precious blood. God showed us his love by giving us his only son.
I hope you all have a wonderful week. If you’re looking for a church, we invite you to join us. Services start at 11.
