Joey and Katelyn McClanahan and friend, Shelby Dewitt, visited with his dad, Bobby Joe, and other family members this weekend.
Martha Box said, “What a week!” How many different possibilities would my friends come up with?
“My story is short and painful. The superwoman in me has apparently retired. The can-do, will-do WOMAN has gone into wish I could do mode! No, I don’t know how a young woman like me woke up to this!” Martha said.
Martha had a great lunch with her sister, Joyce, and brother, Jesse, at the Country Store Wednesday. She said they always enjoy the visit and the so-good food.
Martha also said Sunday was wonderful, she had a lovely drive to Pine Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed a wonderful spiritual singing that lifted her up. Martha grandsons, Josh and Jake Harrison, both sang songs that lifted her high.
Pastor Scarborough followed all those great singers with a soul-searching message. Martha said there is power in those spirit-filled messages.
Ginger Harrison, Martha Box’s daughter, also reported that it was a great fifth Sunday at Pine Grove. There were several guest singers including Jake and Josh who did very well.
“All of today’s singers really did a good job. We all received a sweet message from Brother Scarborough. Of course the meal afterwards was perfect. So glad Moma could come and spend time with us,” Ginger said.
Visitors at your writer’s house this week were my daughter, Donna, and grandson, Bradley Holliday of Grenada. Bobby Ray Jackson also stopped by for a short visit.
Seems like every time I go to the Charles Retina Institute in Oxford, I see people I know. Thursday was no different. Daughter Donna drove me over and when I came back to the waiting room from getting my eyes dilated, I thought I saw Margaret Jean Ross and another lady walk in the door.
I asked Donna and she didn’t know so I walked over to them and sure enough it was Margaret Jean Ross and her daughter, Carol Ross. She was telling me how much she enjoyed all of her birthday cards that she received. Carol is staying thru Christmas, I think she said. What would we do without our daughters? I know mine has been there for me every step of the way.
Happy belated anniversary to Bob and Sheila Bailey and to Quintin and Alex Ballard on the 24th! May both couples have many more to share!
Visiting with Waylon, Holly, Haven Rose and Waylon Jr. Dukes last week was Holly’s mom and dad, Tommy and Lisa Havens, of Teasdale.

Thought for the day: if a situation does not work, then let it be. It is never okay to seek revenge.
