Mt. Liberty News

Another great week has gone by and it was very eventful. Breeze and Jade were baptized. We’re so very proud of them. Breeze has been with us since she was a baby and we’re so glad to have her back. Jade is such a great child and we look forward to seeing what God does in her life. Angela and Joe had a birthday this last week. We were so happy to celebrate them.

I had to take mom to the hospital last week. She took a fall down her porch steps. Nothing was broken, but she was beat up pretty bad. She has been very sore. Please pray for her.

Bro. Grant Coffey brought another wonderful message Sunday morning. Our very existence is based on love. No matter what the world is doing, we should be loving the Lord every minute of every hour of every day.

Our text was in Matthew 22:34-38. Do you love God more than anyone or anything? Do you love God more today than you did yesterday? Do you love Jesus as much as you did when you were saved and baptized?

So, why do we love God. First, we love Him because He first loved us.

Second, Jesus commanded us to (v.37). There are 623 commandments in our Bible. Jesus says loving God is the first and greatest commandment. We are to love Him with every part of our being. We love Him with the kind of love that acknowledges who He is. We love Him because of who He is, not what He can do for us.

Our obedience should be because we love Him, not for the blessings we can get from Him. We have to love Him when the wants are crashing around us. Him being God is all the reason we need to love Him. He gave us eternal life. Don’t put conditions on God. Love Him for the right reason, because He’s God.
Angela and Opal did a special Sunday morning that was very meaningful to me. They sang “He Knows My Name.” This is one of my favorite songs and they did an amazing job on it. I sent it to them a while back and didn’t realize they had learned it. I was so proud to hear them.

Breeze and Rossalan sang “Goodness of God,” another wonderful song. You could really feel the Holy Spirit Sunday morning. It was such a blessing. If you’re looking for a home church, we invite you to join us. Services start at 11.
