Happy Mother’s Day to all you mothers and to all who have stepped up in this role including some fathers.
And now for the report from last Saturday’s Tillatoba Bass Tournament at the Hartley’s farm. The biggest bass winner was Farrell Festervand with a seven pound lunker. He has been to the tournament every year but one. The second place winner was Tyler Atchinson with a 6.7 pounder. Corey Anderson was third with a 6.5 pounder, fourth place was Tim Mckelroy with a bass that weighed 6.4 pounds and fifth place was Matt Jones with a 5.1 pounder.
The biggest crappie winner was a three-way tie Bryan Tedford, Mike Poynor and Cody Shankle and McCullar also won the award for the largest stringer.
Faye Hartley said it was a great turnout.
Mark, Faye and Kristie Hartley would like to thank everyone who helped make the annual tournament a success. They wouldn’t have been able to do it without your help.
Also Rowland Hartley, Mark and Faye’s grandson, played in tournament in Grenada and pitched a shut out. Faye said “from the bass tournament to ball field, I was running like crazy.”
Ginger Harrison said it was another great Sunday. Pine Grove held their annual homecoming service and there was strong turnout. They last she heard was around 83 people. Both Jake and Josh, her sons, sang specials and did a great job. Bro Scarborough delivered a great message and, of course, the food was perfect.
Ginger also said this week will be busy with Josh graduating from Northwest Mississippi Community College Aircraft Maintenance School on Friday. His birthday is Saturday and Mother’s Day on Sunday.
“Addy just had a birthday on the 3rd and Marnie Box is graduating high school on the 16th. We have a lot of celebrating to do! We may have to fast during June and July to make up for May,” Ginger added.
Your writer received a loving phone call from my nephew, Terry Tillman, Saturday afternoon. He sent a picture of he and a colonel he works with who looks just like my brother, Louis Tillman, who is Terry’s father. Terry is a consultant for a defense contractor and was in London last week. He met the prime minister while there. I think I was more excited than Terry. Your aunt Patcie is so proud of you.
Oh my goodness… LOL says Lila Myrick. I did turn my heater on a little while Sunday morning. I was telling Lila that my husband, David, had our heater on and the air conditioner on when I woke up Sunday morning.
Lila said Mrs Zell Manzo fell Saturday and broke her pelvis. She is in the hospital in Oxford – room 4115.
Bobby Joe McClanhan, Kenny Dunning, Tracy Clolinger and Candy Box visited Michelle Hanback at the hospital. She had triple bypass surgery on Thursday.
Kersti McClanhan, Liam, Fynlee and a friend, Rebecca, visited family here in Tillatoba Sunday.
Martha Box said HIS name is called by me so often.
“Unworthy, I am, but He Is still there!” Martha said.
Martha drove to Madison Thursday for a follow-up on her foot surgery. The doctor insisted that she have physical therapy for the next few weeks. She still has the boot on her foot and is praying that she can walk with a rhythm real soon (Martha, I thought you said walk with a ribbon and I was thinking that Martha Box has won a ribbon for walking.I was getting ready to ask you if it was a red or blue ribbon.)
Happy birthday to Diane Lofton and Ollie Dogan on the 7th, Zell Manzo, Sally Adam’s and your writer, Patcie Deck all share a birthday the 8th, Sheila Bailey and Josh Harrison celebrate the 10th, Freddy Wayne McClanahan and Jayne Clair Deck on the 11th,, Shannon Dukes the 12th and Gale Holliday and Gene “Puddin” Standridge celebrates the 13th.
I wish for all of you a very blessed day.
Thought for the day….Rain is just God crying. Probably because of something you did.
