Music Fest co-chairmen Patsy Humphreys and Kathy Dickey are all smiles—and all hospitality—as they get ready to welcome guests to The Civic for the long-awaited return of the Town and Country Garden Club’s Music Fest on July 31.
WATER VALLEY – After a long absence, the Water Valley Town & Country Garden Club will once again present Music Fest on Thursday evening, July 31, as the opening event of the Watermelon Carnival weekend. This year’s performance will take place at The Civic, Water Valley’s newly renovated auditorium, marking a proud milestone for both the Garden Club, the City of Water Valley and the entire community.
“We’re very excited for the Music Fest to be back as part of the Watermelon Carnival,” says Patsy Humphreys, who is co-chairing the Garden Club’s Music Fest project. “It’s something we’ve wished for years we could do again,” adds fellow co-chair Kathy Dickey. “And we have a standout lineup of talent this year to help us start fresh.”
This will be the first major gathering at The Civic following years of closure and marks the community’s first chance to step inside and experience the beautifully restored space. With approximately $475,000 invested in renovations—including a new roof, heating and cooling systems, flooring, lighting, seating, windows, and interior finishes—the transformation has brought new life to the building. The project restores The Civic to its original purpose: a welcoming hub for celebrations, concerts, and cultural events.
Mayor Tommy Reynolds expressed his pleasure in the completed project, saying, “I’m incredibly proud of the transformation of The Civic. Bringing the Music Fest back here after so many years is a testament to the facility’s restoration—and to the spirit of our community.” He emphasized that the building now stands as a symbol of what can be achieved when citizens, city leaders, and civic organizations work together.
The Music Fest promises a lively and entertaining evening, with an exciting lineup of talent to be announced in the coming days. Audiences can expect performances from local favorites and new voices, all brought together to celebrate the beginning of Water Valley’s most cherished annual tradition. Tickets for the Music Fest are available in advance for $7.50 from any member of the Town & Country Garden Club or at the Chamber of Commerce office.
The Music Fest is more than a concert; it’s a celebration of music, community, and the remarkable renewal of a beloved local space. As the first official event of the 2025 Watermelon Carnival, it sets the tone for a weekend filled with hometown pride and summer joy.
