Linda Gooch Shorter

DAVENPORT, IOWA — Linda Gooch Shorter, 73, passed away April 15, 2026.

Linda was born Oct. 18, 1952, to the late Jabo and Irma Gooch. She was united in marriage to the late Doyle Shorter. She was a native of Water Valley and later made her home in Davenport, Iowa.

She is survived by her children, Alonzo Shorter and Tammy Shorter, both of Davenport, Iowa; her siblings, Tony (Fannie) Gooch of Water Valley, Edith (Cleve) Puryear of Olive Branch and Catherine White of Water Valley; and a host of nieces, nephews, stepchildren, cousins and friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, Johnny Gooch.

Family members in Water Valley held a celebration of life.

Chadwick Heath Wrenn

WATER VALLEY — Chadwick Heath Wrenn, 54, passed away May 1, 2026, at his home.

Chad was born March 17, 1972, in Water Valley. He was a 1990 graduate of Water Valley High School and attended Northwest Mississippi Community College. He was a member of Sylva Rena Baptist Church, where he was known for his study and knowledge of the Bible.

Chad worked for 21 years at Holley Automotive/Borg Warner and later spent 12 years at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford as a facilities service technician with CBRE. In 2025, he began working as a maintenance technician for the University of Mississippi.

Chad enjoyed deer and turkey hunting and spending time outdoors. He especially enjoyed reviewing trail camera photos and sharing stories with friends and neighbors. One of his greatest joys was teaching his son, Heath, about hunting and shooting.

He is survived by his wife, Leah Anne Norris Wrenn, whom he married July 12, 2003; his son, Joshua Heath Wrenn of Water Valley; his mother, Wilma Wrenn King (Steve); his brother, Brandon Wrenn (Cathey); his stepbrothers, Craig King (Audrey) and Brett King (Karen); and a host of nieces and nephews.

Chad was preceded in death by his father, Larry W. Wrenn.

Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 4, , in the Gardiner Room of Seven Oaks Funeral Home. Visitation was also be held from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, at the funeral home. The service followed at 10 a.m. in the Henry Chapel at Seven Oaks, with burial in Mt. Liberty Cemetery.

Seven Oaks Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
