Lue Ellen Reed Hayes

  GRENADA: Lue Ellen Reed Hayes, age 62, of Grenada died April 30, 2007, at the home of her daughter in Grenada.

  Funeral services for Mrs. Hayes were held at eleven o’clock in the morning Saturday, May 5, 2007, in the Church of Christ, with Minister Charles Willis officiating. Burial was in True Bibleway Cemetery, Tippo. Hodges Fuenral Home of Batesville was in charge of arrangements.

  Mrs. Hayes was a native of Tippo. She was a retired seamtress for Water Valley Manufacturing in Water Valley.

  Survivors include: three sons, Marvin Reed of San Diego, California, James Reed of Witchita, Kansas, and Jason Hayes of Charleston; two daughters, Melvin Morgan of Water Valley and Paula Reed of Grenada; six step children, Joann Rogers of Water Valley, Betty Davis of Levenworth, Kansas, Alma Smith of Oakland, Virginia Shegog of Charleston, Albert Hayes of Oakland, California, and Bennie Hayes of Charleston;  seven sisters, Bunnie Ruth Eggleston of Chicago, Elma Lee Cashaw of Cascilla, Emmiline Kirk and Virginia Reed, both of Witchita, Kansas, Ida Cashaw of Tippo, Josephine Davis of Itta Bena, and Ruth Ann Bynum of Charleston; six brotehrs, John Reed of Charleston, Luke Reed of Lansing, Kansas, Joseph Reed and Freddie Reed, both of Tippo, Lethaniel Reed and Henry Reed, Jr., both of Witchita Kansas; 22 grandchildren; and seven great-granchildren.


Kathleen M. Palmertree

  WATER VALLEY: Mrs. Kathleen M. Palmertree, age 83, of Water Valley passed away May 5, 2007, in Yalobusha County Nursing Home at Water Valley.

  She was retried from Burden’s Boarding Home in Water Valley. Mrs. Palmertree was a Baptist, a homemaker, and spent her time caring for her family.

  Funeral services for Mrs. Palmertree were held in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home at two o’clock in the afternoon Tuesday, May 8, 2007, with Reverend Kenneth Izzard officiating. Interment followed in Orwood Cemetery in Lafayette County.

  Surivivors include: a daughter, Mary Dickey of Winfield, Alabama; sons, Curtis Palmertree of Water Valley, Joe Palmertree of Greenville, and Arthur Palmertree of Carrollton; a brother, Carl Perry of Austin, Texas; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

  Preceding Mrs. Palmertree in death were her parents, Jesse A. and Eula Karr Perry, and a son, Bobby Ray Bowles.

 

 Sarah Frances Stanford

  OXFORD: Sarah Frances Grimes Stanford, age 85, of Oxford Died Thursday, May 3, 2007, at her home.

  Mrs. Stanford was retired from the University of Mississippi, where she worked in the Alumni House.

  Funeral services were held at eleven o’clock in the morning Saturday, May 5, 2007, in New El Bethel Baptist Church, Oxford, with Rev. Jimmy Sockwell and Rev. John Stewart officiting. Burial was in the church cemetery with Waller Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

  Mrs. Stanford was the widow Chester Bradley Stanford and a member of New El Bethel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Willie Flo Grimes Clark, Jimmie Fay Grimes Barbee, and Charlotte Ruth Grimes Barlow; two brothers, George William Grimes and Richard Grey Grimes, and her parents, Willie Winston and Q Bell Sharp Grimes.

  Survivors include: a daughter, Brenda Gail Stanford Keen, and her husband, Billy, of Water Valley; a son, Gerald Grimes Stanford, and his wife, Ann, of Oxford; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchldren.

Daisy M. White

  WATER VALLEY: Daisy M. White, age 81, of Water Valley died Friday, May 4, 2007, at Oxford in Baptist Memorial Hospital—North Mississippi.

  A daughter of the late Claude F. and Cuebelle Cofer Sartain, Mrs. White was born and raised in Water Valley. She was a retired nurse, a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the Pink Ladies Auxiliary, a member of Camp Ground Baptist Church, and in later years Sylva Rena Baptist Church.

  Funeral services were held in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home at eleven o’clock in the morning Monday, May 7, 2007, with Reverend Troy Hurdle and Reverend Calvin Miller officiating. Interment was in Camp Ground Cemetery with Michael Hall, Tommy Pitts, Harold Dean Hollowell, James Claude Sartain, Johnny Dunn, and Matthew Samuels serving as pallbearers.

  Mrs. White is survived by: her husband, William T. White of Water Valley; daughters, Della Kathryn Pitts of Waterford, Doris Marie Paullus of Arlington, Tennessee, Pamela Whtie Samuels of Water Valley and Shirley White House of Bourbanaise, Illinois; sons, Forest Lee Hollowell of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and William B. White of Baltimore, Maryland; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

  In addition to her parents, Mrs. White was preceded in death by a husband, Doris L. Hollowell, a sister, Annie Mae Dunn, and a brother, Claude Sartain, Jr.
