Laucene Shaw Clements
WATER VALLEY: Laucene Shaw Clements, 75, died Monday, May 28, 2007.
Funeral services for Mrs. Clements will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon Wednesday, May 30, 2007, in Hopewell Baptist Church, with Rev. Rick Glidewell and Rev. Truman Scarbrough officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Yalobusha County. Seven Oaks Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the funeral in Hopewell Baptist Church.
Born July 27, 1931, Mrs. Clements was a daughter of Mrs. Mattie Dawkins Shaw and the late Guy C. Shaw, who was a former Tax Assessor in Yalobusha County. Her husband, the late Robert Clements, died in May of 1989. She was a Baptist. Mrs. Clements was a self-employed artist and seamstress.
Survivors include: her mother, Mrs. Mattie Dawkins Shaw of Water Valley; two daughters, Deb Roach of Sierra, Arizona and Vicki Kendall of Huntsville, Alabama; a son, Mike Clements of Germantown, Tennessee; two sisters, Charlene Torbert of Nashville, Tennessee and Nan Rickett of Coffeeville; and one brother, Guy Dale Shaw of Water Valley, who was a former Yalobusha County Tax Assessor; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Bernice Prescott Redwine
OXFORD: Bernice Prescott Redwine, age 87, died May 22, 2007, in Graceland Care Center in Oxford. She was a retired nurse for Campbell’s Clinic in Memphis, and a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Water Valley.
Funeral services were held at two o’clock in the afternoon Friday, May 25, 2007, in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home, Water Valley, with Bro. Stan Hulsey conducting the service. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Surviving Mrs. Redwine are: two step-children, Dianne Morris of Forest, and Gary Redwine of Water Valley; seven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were: her husband, Doyle Freeman Redwine (Oct. 31, 2001); her parents, J. T. Prescott and Senie Van Winkle Prescott; brothers, Elton Prescott and James Prescott; sisters, Carlene White, Ila Mae Moore, Laverne Dunn, Sue Miller and Lucille Gibson; a step-son, Roy Lee Redwine; one step-daughter, Linda Redwine Moore; a granddaughter, Kim Redwine Cushman, and one great-grandson.
James E. Sanders
WATER VALLEY: James E. Sanders, 67, of Water Valley died May 15, 2007, in Baptist Memorial Hospital, in Tupelo.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 19, 2007, at eleven o’clock in the morning in Everdale M.B. Church, Water Valley, with Rev. Amos Sims officiating. Burial was in Bayson Chapel Cemetery, Water Valley. Eddie Robinson & Son Funeral Directors had charge of arrangements.
Mr. Sanders was born April 28, 1940. He was a graduate of Davidson High School, Water Valley.
Survivors include: two sons, James A. Gooch and Lee Eddie Caldwell, both of Water Valley; two daughters, Linda Benson of Water Valley and Sharonda Jones of Oakland; his mother, Clorey Fill Hervey of Water Valley; two sisters, Eva Cook of Water Valley and Essie Johnson of Waterloo, Iowa; two brothers, Leonard Sanders of Detroit, Michigan and Eddie Sanders of Southfield, Michigan; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: one son, Recky Sanders; and his father, Stonewall Martin.
