Pauline Groves Arrington
WATER VALLEY: Pauline Groves Arrington, age 85, of Water Valley died August 16, 2007, in Aiken, South Carolina.
Mrs. Arrington had lived in Water Valley most of her life. She worked for Rice Stix and Big Yank for many years and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at eleven o’clock in the morning Saturday, August 18, in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home, with Dr. Randy Bain officiating. She was laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery beside her loving husband, Ben Sanders Arrington. Serving as pallbearers were her grandsons, Perry Arrington, Alan Arrington, Austin Arrington, Brad Day, Brian Day, Robert Day, and a dear family friend, Jimmy Murphrey.
Survivors include: her son, Jimmy L. Arrington, and his wife, Gale, of Oxford; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: her parents, Horace C. Groves and Pearl Oliver Groves; daughters, Peggy A. Day (2006) and Mary K. Arrington (1972); a sister, Velma Groves McGaughey; and a twin brother, Paul Groves.
COFFEEVILLE: Hillard Griffin Jones, 85, of Coffeeville passed away in the Yalobusha General Hospital on Friday, August 17, 2007.
He was a retired heavy equipment operator and was a member of Elam Baptist Church. A son of the late William Lee and Velma Collins Jones, he served his country during World War II with the United States Air Force.
Funeral services for Mr. Jones were held at two o’clock in the afternoon Monday, August 20, in Elam Baptist Church, in Coffeeville, with Bro. Don Thornberg officiating. Burial followed in Elam Cemetery with Billy Joe Jones, Bobby Jones, E. O. Boyle, Jr., Oliver Greenhaw, Jim Hertel and Luke Nolan serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Beckwith, Malcom Shaw, Danny Lemmon, Glen Calder, and Smiley Arrington, II.
Mr. Jones is survived by: his devoted wife of 60 years, Odis Jean Jones of Coffeeville; one son, Terry L. Jones, and his wife, Patricia, of Coffeeville; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Maggie Boyle of Water Valley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: one son, Gerry Griffin Jones; five brothers, Leon, Edward, Frank, Theo, and Bill Jones; and one sister, Mary Burke.
HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ: Jack Edwin Mauldin, 62, passed away Saturday, August 11, 2007, at his residence in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ. He was born in McMinnville, Tenn. to the late Cully and Opal Blaker Mauldin.
Funeral services were held in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home at two o’clock in the afternoon Saturday, August 18, with Rev. Larry West presiding. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery at Water Valley.
Mr. Mauldin is survived by: one son, Shawn L. Mauldin of Hopatcong, NJ; and a sister, Jean Mann.
