Adrian Decarlo Campbell

COLUMBUS, GA: Adrian Decarlo “Carlo” Campbell, 29 of Columbus, Georgia died Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Doctor’s Hospital at Columbus, Georgia.

    Born July 24, 1978, in Water Valley, he was the son of Sarah Campbell Griffin and Paul Shaw. He graduated from Water Valley High School in 1998 and later enrolled at the University of Mississippi.  He was employed by Wendys in Columbus, Georgia.

    Survivors include: his mother, Sarah Campbell Griffin and his step-father, David Griffin, Sr. of Columbus, Georgia; his father, Paul Shaw of Coffeeville; a grandmother, Sarah Campbell of Water Valley; six sisters, Lakendra Campbell, Shereese Nicholson, Shanekeria Nicholson of Columbus, Georgia, Latasha Hervey of Water Valley, Justina Martin and Shapaya Martin of Coffeeville; two step brothers, David Griffin of London, England and Cornelius Griffin of Chattanooga, Tennessee; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

    Services will be held Thursday, March 20, at two o’clock in the afternoon in the Water Valley Civic Auditorium. The burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery and the repast will follow at Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Sarah T. Mixon Harris

OROVILLE, CA: Sarah T. Mixon Harris, 74, passed away November 26, 2007, in Oroville, California. She had cancer.

    Born December 26, 1931, Mrs. Harris was a daughter of the late Thomas Lloyd and Sarah Ellen Mixon. She grew up in Water Valley and spent the rest of her adult years living in California.

    She is survived by: her husband, David Harris of Arkansas; sons, Thomas Harris of Oregon, David Harris of Missouri, and Steve Harris of Arkansas;  a daughter, Tina, and her husband, Gary Richter, of California; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Ellen Potts of Water Valley; and many nieces and nephews.

    Sarah has been laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery at Water Valley. Arrangements were entrusted to Ramsey Funeral Home of Oroville, California.

James Robert “Robby” Schmitz

RICHLAND: James Robert “Robby” Schmitz, 30, died Wednesday morning, March 12, 2008, in an automobile accident in Richland.

    Services were held at two o’clock in the afternoon Saturday, March 15, in the Chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Richland, with burial following in Glenwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Richland.

    Born March 17, 1977, in Jackson, Robby was a son of James Henry Schmitz and Darlene Burt. He graduated from Rankin Academy at Star in 1995. Mr. Schmitz was an employee of Jackson Brace and Limb Company, where he had worked for 10 years.

    He was an avid fan of Ole Miss sports and a member of First Baptist Church of Richland. He was the proud father of “Kady Bug” as he liked to call his 22-month-old daughter. Robby will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

    Survivors include: his former wife, Amanda Schmitz of Richland; his daughter Kadence Louise Schmitz of Richland; his mother and step-father, Darlene Burt Calvert and Jack Calvert of Crowder; his father, James Henry Schmitz of Water Valley; three brothers, Greg Calvert of Crowder, Trace Schmitz and Cody Schmitz, both of Water Valley; a sister, Brandy Schmitz of Water Valley; his maternal grandmothers, Irene Burt of Batesville and Dottie Calvert of Crowder; and a host of other family members and friends.
