Mildred Mae Green

  WATER VALLEY: Mildred Mae Green, age 65, died Thursday, May 8, 2008, in the Yalobusha County Nursing Home at Water Valley.

  Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Mrs. Green had lived in the Water Valley Area approximately 20 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Water Valley.

  The funeral service was held in Coleman Funeral Home Chapel Thursday, May 15, at two o’clock in the afternoon, with Bro. Will Turner officiating. Interment was in Church Grove Cemetery in Lafayette County. Coleman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

  Survivors include: one son, Donald A. Green, Jr. of Water Valley; three daughters, Sherry Lynn Green of Pascagoula, Donna Berryhill of Gautier, and Tammy Kay Hopkins of Bruce; one brother, Harry Ernest Jones of Cleveland, Ohio; four sisters, Edith Lunsford and Irene Collins, both of Ohio, Joyce Ann Beard of Pascagoula, and Helen Pack of Seymour, Indiana; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

  Mrs. Green was preceded in death by her husband, Donald A. Green, Sr., her parents, Ralph and Christine Jones, and a sister, Fran Waddell.


Drusilla S. Holmes

Salida, CO: Drusilla S. Holmes, age 85, of Salida, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2008, at Columbine Manor Care Center. Mrs. Holmes was born December 20, 1922, in Water Valley.

  Drusilla loved spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren. She loved taking care of her family. Drusilla worked for many years for the Bank of Water Valley in Water Valley. She later worked for the Bank of Colorado in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

  She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Mary Lou French.

  Survivors include; her son, Don (Mary) Holmes of Salida, CO; brothers, George (Connie) Spurgeon of Pontotoc and Homer “Speedy” Spurgeon of Nashville, TN; sisters, Jackie Parks of Water Valley, Betty Ruth Allen of Biloxi, and Jo Ann Bale of Sarasota, FL;  three grandsons; and nine great-grandchildren.

  A service is planned at a later date in Mississippi. Arrangements are with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home, Salida, CO.


Hazel Stilwell Shields

  LAMBERT: Mrs. Hazel Stilwell Shields, 76, factory worker at Panola Mills and widow of Lody Shields, passed away May 12, 2008 at her residence in Lambert.

  Funeral services were held Thursday, May 15, at three o’clock in the afternoon in Dickins Funeral Home at Batesville. Interment followed in Forrest Memorial Cemetery at Batesville. Dickins Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

  Mrs. Shields was born September 20, 1932, to the late Elisha Stilwell and Mrs. Clara Moore Stilwell.

  Survivors include: her daughter, Mary Ann Bonner of Water Valley; one brother, James “Milton” Stilwell of Lambert; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild on the way.
