Michael Benson

  WATER VALLEY –  Michael Benson, 53, died Monday, July 28, 2008, in Baptist Memorial Hospital—North Mississippi at Oxford.

  Born April 20, 1955 in Water Valley, Mr. Benson was a son of the Mrs. Margie Benson and the late Levi Benson. He was educated in Davidson School and at the time of his death was disabled. Mr. Benson was a member of Everdale M. B. Church.

  The funeral service was held at eleven o’clock in the morning Saturday, August 2, in Everdale M.B. Church, with Rev. Phillip Brackett officiating. Burial was in Springdale Cemetery in Yalobusha County. Eddie Robinson Funeral Homes had charge of arrangements.

  He is survived by: his son, Tyrin Watts and his wife, Quinece, of Water Valley; his mother, Mrs. Margie Benson of Water Valley; a sister, Margaret Franklin of Water Valley; and two brothers, George Benson and Leodis Benson, both of Water Valley.

Zora Idell Mosley

CALHOUN CITY – Zora Idell Mosley, age 90, born April 30, 1918, in Calhoun County to Avery Pacall and Clercie Mitchell Wright died August 2, 2008 at Calhoun Health Services in Calhoun City, MS.  She was a member of Providence Baptist Church and a retired LPN from the Oxford Hospital.

Visitation was held at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley on Tuesday, August 5. The graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Providence Cemetery in Calhoun County with Rev. Jimmy Sockwell officiating.  The pallbearers were Marcell Poynor, Leonard Poynor, David Black, William Huckaby, Ben Brisco and Bryan Brisco.

She is survived by one son, James Albert Mosley of Banner, MS; one daughter, Janice Bagwell, Memphis, TN; one son-in-law, Calvin Vinson of Murphreesboro, NC; five granddaughters, Lisa Brisco of Sardis, MS, Stephanie Mosley of Van Cleef, MS, Regina Shoemake of Bruce, MS, Misty Mosley of Tupelo, MS, and Donna Reid of Memphis, TN; three grandsons, Chad Mosley of Banner, MS, Mark Bagwell of Memphis, TN and Ralph Cherry of Murphreesboro, NC; four sisters, Louise Wright of Bruce, MS, Kathryn James of Bruce, MS, Marlene Camp of Drivers Flat, MS and Helen Claudine Phillips of Oxford, MS; seven great grandsons; nine great granddaughters; one great-great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A.H. (Hosey) Mosley; a daughter, Anice Vinson; four sisters and two brothers.

Sudie Gilmore Crocker Ridgeway

WATER VALLEY –  Sudie Gilmore Crocker Ridgeway, age 85, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2008, at her home in Coffeeville.  She was born in Coffeeville to the late Lon and Hester Lee Nelson Gilmore on January 16, 1923.  She was a homemaker and was a member of New Life Fellowship in Oakland, MS.

 Services were held Thursday, July 31, 2008 at New Life Fellowship in Oakland. Bro. Jerry Smith and Bro. Billy Nelson officiated.  Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery in Water Valley, with Chris Schroyer, Curtis Camp, Jody Sanders, Rex Smith, Neil Crocker, Jr., Bubba Jaco, and Burt Sanders serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers were Theressa Holland, Jada Jaco, and Patsy Schroyer.  Seven Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

She is survived by two daughters, Patsy Sanders of Enid, and Nell Camp of Coffeeville; one son, Sinclair Neal Crocker of Coffeeville; one sister, Frances Ables of Byhalia; her ex-husband, Doyle C. Ridgeway; and seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis E. Crocker; four sisters, Minerva Sanders, Molly Crocker, Dolly Pipkins, and Louise Gilmore; three brothers, Sam Gilmore, Thomas Gilmore, and Archie “Buddy Boy” Gilmore; and a granddaughter she loved so well, Susan Camp Smith.
