Bobby Joe Crawford
GRENADA – Bobby Joe Crawford, 68, of Grenada died Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at Grenada Lake Medical Center.
A son of the late Marvin Winfred and Jamie Loye Wilson Crawford, he was born March 25, 1940.
There are no services planned. Garner-Harper Funeral Home of Grenada was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Crawford is survived by four daughters, Rachel Gregory of Oxford, Deborah Crawford of Norfolk, Virginia, Rebecca Crawford of Abilene, Texas, and Laura Crawford of Florida; three sons, Ricky Dale Crawford of Houston, Texas, Kevin Crawford of Nashville, Tennessee, and Brian Crawford Lovelace of Texas; two sisters, Charlotte Hocutt of Grenada, and Melba Soileau of Water Valley; and two brothers, Jimmy Poe of Byhalia and David Carlton of Grenada. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Emily Crawford; and a sister, Mattie Blanche Stacy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be sent to the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford.
Shirley Reaves McCullar
WATER VALLEY – Shirley Reaves McCullar, 80, died at his residence in Water Valley on September 12, 2008.
Born February 13, 1928, Mr. McCullar was a son of the late Riley and Minnie Tubbs McCullar. He was retired from Holley Carburetor and was a member of Union West Baptist Church.
The funeral service was held in Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home of Water Valley at two o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, September 15, with Bro. David Ross officiating. The committal service followed in Camp Ground Cemetery in Lafayette County.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Sylvia McCullar; four daughters, JoAnn Vandergriff (Bill) of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Gail Fly (Richard) of Water Valley, Dianne Cadena (Frank) of Batesville, and Patricia Sims (Billy Joe, deceased) of Water Valley; one son, Billy D. McCullar of Courtland; and one sister, Arneal Lakey of Water Valley; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bobby McCullar, and a brother, Ray McCullar.
Dana Renee Redwine
SOUTHAVEN – Dana Renee Redwine, age 35, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at her residence in Southaven.
Born August 27, 1973, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, she is a daughter of Danny Ray Redwine and the late Linda Lou Gore Redwine. Dana enjoyed fishing and all of nature, especially wildflowers, which she enjoyed picking and presenting to those she loved.
The funeral service was held in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home at two o’clock in the afternoon Sunday, September 14, with Bro. Don Thornburg and Bro. Jim Gore officiating. The committal was held in Elam Cemetery at Coffeeville, with Anthony Card, Andre Card, Richard Mann, Michael Shane Whitten, Adam Gore, and Keith Whitten serving as pallbearers.
She is survived by one son, Devin Wright of Southaven; two sisters, Tonia Card of Southaven and Angela Michelle Rusch of Bruce; one brother, Jason Michael Rusch of Cincinnati, Ohio; and her parents, Danny Ray and Esther Redwine of Bruce.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Lou Gore Redwine.
Mary J. “Jackie” Smith
WATER VALLEY – Mary J. “Jackie” Smith, age 76, died in Yalobusha General Hospital at Water Valley on September 13, 2008.
Born July 16, 1932, in Water Valley, Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late Mary Littleton Britt. She was retired from Holley Automotive.
The funeral service will be held in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home at two o’clock on Wednesday, September 17, 2008. The committal service will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery at Water Valley.
Mrs. Smith is survived by a daughter, Claudia Smith Anthony, and her husband, Mark, of Water Valley; and one son, James Alexander Smith, and his wife, Sue, of Seattle, Washington.
Along with her mother, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Hubert P. Britt.
