Hugh Edward Nicholson

WATER VALLEY – Hugh Edward Nicholson, Jr. died November 16, 2008, at 207 Wagner Street, Water Valley. The death was a homicide.

    Born May 2, 1985, he was 23 years old. Mr. Nicholson was unemployed.

    The funeral service was held at one o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, November 21, in Everdale M.B. Church, Water Valley. Burial was in Rocky Mountain Cemetery with Eddie Robinson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mike Samuels

SENATOBIA – Kenneth Michael (Mike) Samuels, 58, passed away Nov. 18, 2008, at Baptist DeSoto Hospital. Services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia with burial following in the Pontotoc City Cemetery in Pontotoc.

Mike was a Baptist, an avid sportsman, a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a past member of the Civitan Club and Woodmen of the World, among numerous other organizations. He leaves his wife, Becky Samuels of Senatobia; his daughter, Beth Samuels of Memphis; his mother, Quay Samuels of Water Valley; his sisters, Sue Cobern of Senatobia and Pam Timmons of Memphis. He also leaves his granddaughter, Zoe Seidman of Memphis.

Cliff Rotenberry

WATER VALLEY: Robert Clifton “Cliff” Rotenberry, age 65, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2008, in Baptist Memorial Hospital—North Mississippi at Oxford.

    Born December 8, 1942, in Water Valley, he was a son of the late Robert Cooper Rotenberry and Dorothy Wilbourn Rotenberry McHugh. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Mr. Rotenberry graduated from Delta State University with a Bachelor of Business degree, and was the owner of Rasputan’s Restaurant. He was a member of New Life Fellowship in Oakland.

    The funeral service was held in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home at two o’clock in the afternoon Saturday, November 22. The committal followed the service in the Ford’s Well Church Cemetery. Bro. Jerry Smith officiated.

    Survivors include his wife, Bernice Rotenberry of Oakland; one daughter, Tara Rotenberry of Water Valley; one son, John Rotenberry of Water Valley; a step-daughter, Kimberly Johnson of Water Valley; a step-son, Wayne Wilkins of Water Valley; his mother, Delli Rotenberry of Coffeeville; six sisters, Nancy Weems of Olive Branch, Candy Tallant of Water Valley, Robin Stewart of Olive Branch, Karen Hancock of Water Valley, Sharon Harbin of Grenada, and Lynn Rotenberry of Coffeeville; three brothers, Bobby Hutchins of Oxford, Mike McHugh of Pearl, and Bill Rotenberry of Coffeeville; four grandchildren, Michelle Wilkins, Candice Wilkins, Cory Johnson, and Cody Decker.
