Mildred June Baggett

WATER VALLEY – Mrs. Mildred June Baggett, 81, a homemaker, died Saturday, December 20, 2008, in Yalobusha General Hospital at Water Valley.

    Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 22, in Waller Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Robert Hill officiating. Burial followed in Pine Flat Cemetery.

    Mrs. Baggett was the widow of Thomas P. Baggett and a member of Faith Baptist Church in Water Valley. She enjoyed gospel and country music, working in her flower beds, cooking, quilting, and being around her family and friends. Mrs. Baggett was preceded in death by many brothers and sisters.

    She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Carol Fason of Eupora; three sons, Gary W. Baggett of Water Valley, Michael Ray Baggett of Booneville, and Roger Dale Baggett of Water Valley; one sister, Nona Carroll of Columbia; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

    The family asked that memorial contributions in Mrs. Baggett’s memory be made to the Pine Flat Cemetery Fund, 294 Hwy. 328, Oxford, MS 38655.


Elma “Vicky” Cook

WATER VALLEY – Elma “Vicky” Cook, 70, formerly of Memphis, passed away, Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at Community Hospice in Verona.

    Services were held at two o’clock in the afternoon Friday, December 19 in Forest Hill South Funeral Home. Burial followed in Forest Hill South Cemetery.

    Mrs. Cook was a member of the Whitehaven Masonic Lodge #599 and of the Eastern Star, a member of Water Valley Masonic Lodge and of the Eastern Star. She was a past Matron of both lodges. She was also a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Water Valley. She loved gardening and the outdoors.

    She was preceded in death by a son, Danny Cook.

    She leaves: her husband of 39 years, Bidwell Cook; a daughter, Carolyn Barnett of Horn Lake; two sons, Clay Herndon of North Carolina and Ronny Cook (Linda) of Olive Branch; two sisters, Audrey Green and Beatrice Stalling, both of North Carolina; one granddaughter; and three nieces.

    The family request that memorials be made to Community Hospice, Inc., Darlington Oaks, P. O. Box 333, Sherman, MS 38869.


Roger William Dalton

WATER VALLEY – Roger William Dalton, age 58, of Water Valley passed away Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at his residence.

   Born February 5, 1950 in Pontotoc, he was a son of Dean and Mary Kennedy Dalton. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War (1967-1969), serving in the United States Marine Corps. He was a construction worker for SMI, Inc., and a lifetime member of the VFW and Moose Lodge.

    Mr. Dalton is survived by his wife, Barbara Coriell Dalton of Water Valley; daughters, Daisy Dalton, Angel Hise, and Heather Peters; a son, Mike Dalton; one step-daughter, Sandra Marinaro; step-sons, Charlie Vaningan, Jeffrey Vaningan, and Christopher Vaningan; his mother, Mary Kennedy Dalton; a brother, Joe Dalton; 16 grandchildren; and best friend, Dallas Baker.

    He was preceded in death by his father, Dean Dalton

    Service arrangements are incomplete at this time. Seven Oaks Funeral Home is in charge.


Bobby John Pass

COLLIERVILLE, TN – Bobby John Pass, 69, of Collierville, Tenn., died Dec. 16, 2008, in Baptist Memorial Hospital after a valiant battle with cancer.

    He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Sylvia; a daughter, Traci (Billy) Freed; one son, John (Heather) Pass; his mother, Etta Hodnett of Water Valley; two sisters, Wanda Page and Leigh Davis; and five beloved granddaughters, Krystin, Abbey and Rowan Freed and McKenna and Ainsley Pass.

    Mr. Pass retired from the University of Memphis and was a volunteer at the SCVP with the Collierville Police Department.

    The funeral service was held at ten o’clock in the morning Saturday, December 20, in Forest Hill East Funeral Home, with burial following.

    The family request any memorials be made to St. Jude.
