Rayford Leon Mize
Rayford Leon Mize, 84, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2009, in the Mississippi State Veteran’s Home at Oxford.
Born in Paris, he was a son of the late Ontis and Lee McGonagill Mize. Mr. Mize was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II. During his working life he was self-employed as a farmer and carpenter. He was a member of New El Bethel Baptist Church in Tula and the American Legion in Water Valley.
The funeral service was held Saturday, July 25, at one o’clock in the afternoon, in the Henry Chapel at Seven Oaks Funeral Home, with Rev. Jimmy Sockwell presiding. The committal was held in New El Bethel Cemetery in Tula with Calvin Mize, Tyler Mize, Bill Dennis, Kenny Harmon, Chris Harmon, and Lee Pruitt, serving as pallbearers.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Grace Mize of Paris; a son, Reggie Mize, and his wife, Maria, of Oxford; two grandchildren, Christopher Randall Mize and Mollie Kate Mize.
Along with his parents, Mr. Mize was preceded in death by one sister, two brothers, and one grandchild, Ryan Randall Mize.
