WATER VALLEY – A Water Valley man has been charged with the theft of two four-wheelers, one taken from Blackmur Drive in Water Valley and the second from the Wildcat area in the county.
Timothy Furr, age 22, was charged by the Water Valley Police Department with grand larceny and burglary for allegedly taking the four-wheeler on Blackmur Drive, according to Water Valley Police Lt. Rick McCuan The bike was reported missing on Nov. 23.
He is also charged with grand larceny for the Nov. 8 theft of a 1999 Honda Fourtrax taken from the Wildcat area, according to Sheriff William “Lance” Humphreys.
“We started getting leads in these cases last weekend,” the sheriff told the Herald. On Monday, Humphreys and Water Valley Police Captain Roger Thomas spent the day chasing leads and interviewing suspects.
“We were able to get enough information to charge Furr in both cases and recover the four-wheeler taken from Blackmur drive,” Humphreys said. The four-wheeler was recovered from a residence in Lafayette County.
Furr was booked for the city charges and bonded out late Monday. He was also booked at the Yalobusha County Jail Monday afternoon. Justice Court Judge Steve Riley set a $5,000 bond during an initial appearance also held Monday afternoon. Furr also posted bond on the county charge.
Second Arrest
Timothy Furr’s cousin, Jonathan Furr, age 20, of Somerville, Tenn., has also been charged in connection with the four-wheeler taken from the Wildcat area, according to Humphreys.
“According to our investigation, Jonathan Furr allegedly transported the four-wheeler to Fayette County, Tenn.,” Humphreys explained. Jonathan was also charged with grand larceny early Tuesday morning.
At presstime Tuesday, Humphreys said his department had information about the location of the four-wheeler and was working with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department to recover the bike.
“The Fayette County deputies have been very helpful,” Humphreys said. “I had an off-duty investigator spend the afternoon Monday helping me work the case.”
Both Humphreys and McCuan reported that the thefts remain under investigation and additional arrests could be forthcoming.
“Additional arrests are pending,” Lt. McCuan told the Herald.
Meanwhile a third stolen four-wheeler is under investigation. This bike was taken from County Road 14 last Wednesday, Nov. 25, according to Humphreys, who did not offer comment on the possibility this latest case is connected to the previous two.
