Jimmy L. Arrington
Jimmy L. Arrington, 68, retired teacher and coach with the Lafayette County School District, died Friday, May 28, 2010 at Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi in Oxford.
The funeral service was held Sunday, May 30, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Alan Cochet and Rev. Randy Hope officiating. Burial followed in College Hill Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Visitation was Saturday, May 29, 2010 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Waller Funeral Home.
Born in Water Valley, Coach Arrington was a member of College Hill Presbyterian Church. Following his retirement as a teacher and coach he worked as an agent with Lafayette County Farm Bureau Insurance Company, retiring in 2007.
Survivors include his wife Gale W. Arrington of Oxford; two sons, Perry Arrington of Oxford, and Alan Arrington of Florence, AL; and two grandchildren, Austin Arrington and Abby Arrington of Oxford.

Mary Margaret Dunn Ashmore
WATER VALLEY – Mary Margaret Dunn Ashmore, age 91, died Monday, May 24, 2010, in Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven.
Born in Yalobusha County, she was a daughter of the late Sumner and Rena Higgenbotham Dunn. Mrs. Ashmore was a retired supervisor for Big Yank corporation in Water Valley. She enjoyed quilt making and was a member of O’Tuckolofa Baptist Church.
The funeral service was held Friday, May 28, at eleven o’clock in the morning in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home, with Bro. Dan Dickerson presiding. Special music was presented by Daniel Ashmore. The committal was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley, with Michael Dale Moore, Russell Dale Ashmore, Jr., Ray Ashmore, Brad Hutchinson, Rusty Ashmore, III, and Raymond Ashmore serving as pallbearers.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ashmore was preceded in death by her husband, Estle Ashmore in 1965; and by two brothers, Wilton Dunn and Robert Earl Dunn.
Survivors include: a daughter, Lura Dell Moore, and her husband, M. D. of Southaven; a son, Russell Dale Ashmore, Sr., and his wife, Lee, of Southaven; a brother, Aubrey Dunn of Memphis; five grandchildren, Michael Dale Moore, Robin Dawn Huchinson, Russell Dale Ashmore, Jr., Raymond Edgar Ashmore, and Mary Alice Turpin; twelve great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Flora Estelle Cole
OXFORD – Mrs. Flora Estelle Martin Cole, 91, retired, died Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Hermitage Gardens in Oxford.
Born July 5, 1918 in Stewart, Mrs. Cole was a daughter of the late Harry Conley and Kate Mitchell Martin. She was the widow of Woodrow W. Cole, whom she married in 1946. She worked at Camp McCain during World War II and was a charter member of VFW Auxiliary. Mrs. Cole retired in 1983, after 34 years with the Accounting Office at the University of Mississippi. She was a member of First Christian Church in Water Valley, where she taught the Ladies Bible Class. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Lou Tutor, one brother, Harry F. Martin, two nieces, and one nephew.
The funeral service was held Friday, May 28, at three o’clock in the afternoon in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home, with Brother David Freeman officiating. Burial followed in Oxford Memorial Cemetery.
Survivors include: a step-daughter, Betty Cole Copley, and her husband, Donald, of Oxford; three sisters, Dee M. Cox, and her husband, Bobby, of Water Valley, Polly M. Reed of Water Valley; and Margaret M. Orf of Oxford; and two step-grandchildren.
