Dorothy Murphrey Jones

OXFORD – Mrs. Dorothy Murphrey Jones, 86, a retired beautician, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010, in Baptist Memorial Hospital—North Mississippi at Oxford.

    A graveside service was held Saturday, July 3, at ten o’clock in the morning in St. Peter’s Cemetery, with Mr. Richard Williams officiating. Waller Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

    Born in Water Valley, Mrs. Jones was the widow of Norwood L. Jones. She was a charter member of Anchor Baptist Church and loved reading her Bible. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing in the choir at Taylor Baptist Church and the company of her black lab, Samson. She was preceded in death by her sister, Faye DeLeon.

    Survivors include four daughters, Lynette Williams and her husband, Richard, of Taylor, Joyce McDonald of Tulsa, Okla., Janice Martin of Taylor, and Shawnna Jaser of Tulsa, Okla.; four grandchildren, Rick Williams, Corey McDonald, Casey McDonald, and Jordan Jaser; and two great-grandchildren.
