Barbara Ann Hollowell

WAKER, LA: Barbara Ann Hollowell, 64, of Walker, Louisiana, died at her home on August 20, 2010. A native of Yalobusha County, she was born February 22, 1946. Mrs. Hollowell was employed by Direct Insurance in Baton Rouge. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend

    The funeral service was held at two o’clock in the afternoon, Sunday, August 22, in Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park.

    Survivors include: daughters, Darlene Brown of Denham Springs, and Lisa Hollowell of Walker; sons, Jimmy Hollowell, and his wife, Diane, of Walker, Barry Hollowell of Oxford, Terry Hollowell, and his wife, Jill, of Denham Springs; 8 grandchildren; two sisters, Carolyn Adams of Water Valley, and Martha Kelley, and her her husband, Freddie, of Oxford.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, H. C. and Lou Logan, and a sister, Mary Lee.

 
Helen Grace Garavelli

SOUTHAVEN – Helen Grace Garavelli, 86, of Southaven passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2010.

    A former federal government employee, she retired after many years of service. She was a former member of Cherry Road Baptist Church and had served as the Sunday School secretary. She was a member of Gracewood Baptist Church, where she cooked for many of the church functions.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Garavelli.

    Survivors include: a step-daughter, Sylvia Gay Bowen of Water Valley; a step-son, Dr. John Stephen Garavelli of Cambridge, England; one step-granddaughter, Tanya Thweatt of Oxford; and one step-great-grandaughter,Robyn Thweatt.

    The family received friends from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Monday, August 30, at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis, with the funeral service following at 2:30.

  The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial be sent to Gracewood Baptist Church or Cherry Road Baptist Church.

 
Amanda McCain Pipkin

COFFEEVILLE – Amanda McCain Pipkin, age 38, died at her home Thursday, August 26, 2010.

    Born in Water Valley on May 15, 1972, Mrs. Pipkin was a daughter of Billy Joe McCain and Judy Beard Zinn. She was a homemaker and she attended First United Methodist Church of Coffeeville. She loved traveling on cross-country road trips with her husband, Donnie, in his 18 wheeler. Amanda was a sketch artist, she enjoyed fishing and hunting, and raising her farm animals.

    The funeral service was held at two o’clock in the afternoon Saturday, August 28, in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Billy McCord and Bro. Raymond Aven officiating. Interment was in Goshen Cemetery in Coffeeville, with Scotty Holland, Michael  Mitchell, Edd Stevens, Thomas Nichols, Eddie Pipkin and Alfred Pipkin serving as pallbearers.

    She is survived by: her spouse, Donnie Pipkin of Coffeeville; one step-son, Alex “Big Al” Pipkin of Coffeeville; her father, Billy Joe (Ella Jean) McCain of Coffeeville; her mother, Judy Zinn of Plantersville; two sisters, Sara Dodd of Saltillo, and Heather McCain of Tupelo; a step-sister, Melinda (Tony) Shields of Pontotoc; one brother, Wayne Rosco of Abbeville; two step-brothers, Eugene (Pam) Pipkin of Charleston; and Frank (Myrna) Pipkin of Southaven; and a host of nieces and nephews.

James Henry Wolfe

SOUTHAVEN: James Henry Wolfe, age 74, died Friday, August 27, 2010, at his home in Southaven.

  Born in Oakland, Mr. Wolfe was a son of the late Jessie M. and Ethel McAlister Wolfe. He enjoyed working at Reed’s Auto Safety in Memphis,which is owned and operated by his son, Eddie Wolfe.

  Following visitation from 10 a.m. until noon on Monday, August 30, the funeral was held at noon in Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, with Pastor Chuck Neugebauer and Chaplain Richard Holt officiating. Interment was held in Ford’s Well Cemetery in Yalobusha County.

  Survivors include: his wife, Gracie Ferrell Wolfe of Southaven; one son, James Edward “Eddie” (Teri) Wolfe of Olive Branch; two sisters, Olera “Nan” (Wedell) Jones of Georgetown, Tenn.; and Mary Ann Fly of Water Valley; one brother Bobby W. (Ellen) Wolfe, of Birmingham, Ala.; and one grandson, James Trevor Wolfe.

  He was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond L. “Shot” Wolfe; three half-brothers, Ernest, Carl and Roy Wolfe; two half-sisters, Arlene Gardiner and Ruby Mae Shaw.
