New Tax Maps Could Be Slightly Delayed

COFFEEVILLE –  A Huntsville, Ala., firm hired by Yalobusha County to update the county’s aerial tax maps updated supervisors on the status of the new maps at last Friday’s recessed meeting in Coffeeville.

Kirk Neill with Spatial Net  told supervisors his company could be slightly behind the July delivery date. Neill said his company was waiting for Corps photography.

Neill said the Corps is providing the photography to the state, which will in turn provide it to the county.

Spatial Net had already competed other phases of the job, including flying more heavily populated areas in the county.

Supervisors agreed to modify the contract giving Spatial Net more time.

Using the Corps maps saved the county an estimated $50,000, as the county was quoted $28,000 for the job which could have cost as much as $80,000, Neill told supervisors when the original agreement was reached last September.
