WATER VALLEY – Fiddlin’ Rooster Farm will host the first annual Farm Man Challenge and 5K run/walk to benefit St. Jude Children’s Hospital this Saturday.
The fundraiser kicks off with the 5K race at 8 a.m. (7:30 registration) and will continue throughout the day with the Farm Man Challenge, according to Rhonda and Doug Webb, owners of the agri-tourism and education farm.
The race takes place on shady, rural pave roads, Doug Webb said, while the Farm Man Challenge is set entirely off-road on the farm “…over and under various fun ‘cropstacles’ as well as through the woods and a portion of the corn maze.”
The Farm Man Challenge begins at 9 a.m. and the awards ceremony for both events is at 10 a.m. Additional activities include a photo op with the Chick-Fil-A Cow, face painting, hair feathers, pumpkin patch, and a hay ride.
Prizes will be awarded to the winners of the competitions thanks in part to generous sponsors, Webb said. Sponsors include Turnage Drug Store, Mechanics Bank, Valley Tool, RoadID, Junior Auxiliary of Water Valley, Blue Roots Marketing, Lions Club, Cornerstone Rehabilitation, and Barry Weeks, DMD.
There will also be live music from 3 until 7 p.m. with Cadillac Funk, Burns-Thompson Reunion, Mike Shaw and Eric Allred. All events are open to the public.

The correct pathways in the maze can be walked in under 30 minutes, Webb said. However, directionally-challenged visitors – adults and children alike – may take up to an hour to travel through more than two miles of twists and turns and 85 decision points.
The farm is located at 393 County Road 102 about one mile from the intersection of Hwy. 7 and Hwy. 32. Additional information is available on the farm’s website, www.fiddlinroosterfarm.com.
