William T. “Bill” Hobdy, Jr.
WATER VALLEY—William T. “Bill” Hobdy, Jr., age 80 of Water Valley died Friday, August 31, 2012, in his home at Ridgeland.
Born August 22, 1932, in Scottsville, Kentucky, Mr. Hobdy was a son of the late William Thompson and Martha Hudson Hobdy. Bill was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sports. He was a huge fan of the University of Kentucky where he played on the UK basketball scout team and graduated. Bill served in the United States Air Force and while enlisted he played basketball at Chicksands Air Force base in England. He was employed for many years at Holley Carburetor in Water Valley and retired as materials and production manager at Chromcraft Industries in Senatobia.
A graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 4, in Oak Hill Cemetery at Water Valley, with Rev. David Carroll and Dr. Joe Walker officiating. Seven Oaks Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Marty Bell (Tim) of Madison and Susan Jenkins of Southaven; one son, Will Hobdy (Theresa) of Madison; a sister, Mary Joy Arterburn of Scottsville, Ky.; one brother, Ransom Hobdy (Judy ) of Anniston, Ala.; and seven grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Water Valley Youth Baseball League.
